Monthly Potluck tonight at 6 p.m.
The next St. Luke's potluck will take place at the home of Ned and Sharon Welker tonight at 6 p.m. Please bring an appetizer to share and a beverage. All are invited and welcome!! 
Centering Prayer
The next meeting of St. Luke's centering prayer group is tonight at
6:00 p.m. in the Chapel.

An "Introduction to Centering Prayer" workshop will be offered at St. Luke's on  Saturday, August 20th, from  9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in the Chapel.  Our presenter will be Rusty Swavely, a longtime practitioner and certified teacher of Centering Prayer. On the five  Saturday mornings following the  August 20th workshop, additional, but shorter, educational/experiential sessions will be offered to help participants become rooted in their own practice of Centering Prayer. The dates of the follow-up sessions are  August 27, and  September 3, 10, 17, and 24, with each session starting at  10 a.m. and ending at  noonThe latest brochure from Contemplative Outreach on Centering Prayer, updated just a few months ago, can be viewed by clicking   here

A donation of $5.00 is requested to help cover the cost of snacks for the  August 20th workshop. The follow-up sessions are free of charge. To register, please contact Keehna Sture at or by phone at  941-539-1257.
St. Luke's Golf Outing - July 23
The next golf outing will take place tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. at Antelope Hills North Course. The cost is $35.75, including tax. The hosts are Sylvia and Gib McIntosh. 
School Supply Drive through this Sunday!
Fair Start is coming up soon, and many children depend on CCJ to help them have the supplies they need for a successful school year. The Outreach Commission will oversee the contribution from St. Luke's. The collection bin can be found in the Gathering Hall. Click  here  for the CCJ (Coalition for Compassion & Justice) School Supply Wish List. Lists are also available in the Gathering Hall.

Backpack Fillers Needed for Fair Start Back-to-School Supply Distribution
Volunteers are needed to help fill the donated backpacks with supplies on  July 27 and July 28,  10 a.m.-3 p.m.,  at the CCJ headquarters located in Esther Hall at the Prescott United Methodist Church at 505 W. Gurley St. in Prescott.  Then, on  July 29 , volunteers are needed between   9 a.m. and 1 p.m.   to help set up the room for the distribution and on   July 30   they are needed between   9 a.m. and 1 p.m.   for the distribution of backpacks and supplies as well as from   1 p.m. to 3 p.m.  on the same day to help  with the clean-up efforts. Volunteers are also requested to help with the church's Shoes for the Shepherd program that allows those picking up backpacks to get certificates for a new pair of shoes. For more information, contact Diane Iverson, director of CCJ special projects, at 928-445-8382.

July 31 Workshop on Organizing Your Personal and Financial Matters
Please Join Ron Davis, for a 45-minute workshop, on Sunday July 31, after the 10 a.m. service in the Parish Hall , to discuss and begin the process of leaving a very special gift to your spouse or executor - the gift of organized and complete personal and financial information. Mark Your Calendar Now for September 25!
Save the date of September 25, for A Taste for Mission, a  fundraising gala to benefit the mission of St. Luke's. Tasting of wine, mead and gourmet appetizers, a silent art auction, and music will highlight this special event.  Tickets will go on sale after all services beginning in September.
Upcoming Diocesan Events
Episcopal Night at the Diamondbacks: 
The Arizona Diamondbacks invite all members of The Episcopal Diocese of Arizona, along with their family and friends, to an exciting game of baseball as the D-Backs take on the Reds on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 6:40 p.m.  A portion of every ticket purchased will be donated to support an outreach ministry project to send water filters to South Sudan!  After the game, stay for post-game festivities that are part of the D-Backs Faith & Family Night. There will be fireworks, followed by a player Q&A. Special guest Matthew West  will be performing a concert to end the festivities. The ticket order deadline is  August 19, 2016 Seating is Limite d!

Native Ministry Gathering: 
Save the date of Saturday, September 3, for the Native Ministry Gathering, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Trinity Cathedral in Phoenix. More details will follow later this summer.
Don't Spend Christmas Alone
Don't Spend Christmas Alone:  a community outreach dinner that caters to guests that would otherwise be alone and / or not celebrate on the most significant day of the year: Christmas Day. Fabulous food is diligently served, with multiple beverage choices, delicious selections of pies and cheerful fellowship. "To Know Christ and to Make Christ Known," an experience guests take home along with cookies.  Thank you, volunteers.
