Funeral Reception Committees
At St. Luke's there is a small ministry, which comes under Pastoral Care, known as the Funeral Reception Committee. This ministry is made up of 2 teams of about 10 women each.  One team is in need of a new leader. These 10 women of each team bake all the cookies, set up the Parish Hall, serve at the reception and then clean up. Most of these women have been on this committee since St. Luke's moved to the present building.  It is imperative for us to have more volunteers to bake cookies and be active members on these teams. If you are interested in helping with this important ministry, please call Pat Eaton (928- 771-1821) or send her an email  (

Live music will make it even more festive!
Social Media Sunday 2016
Sunday, September 25, 2016, is officially known throughout the church community as Social Media Sunday. Our Arizona Diocese Canon for Media and Communications, Nicole Krug, has challenged us to join this fun, online, ecumenical event. How can you participate? We at St. Luke's will focus on three social media applications: Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat.  We can use these applications for things like:
  • Instagram a selfie or photo from St. Luke's
  • Snapchat a story from St. Luke's - perhaps something that touched you during the sermon or a particular reading
  • "Check in" on Facebook, and update your status by sharing something that is important to you about St. Luke's and why you attend
  • Take a photo during the Fundraising Gala - A Taste for Mission - and upload it to any of the applications
Important! Nicole has asked that we include the hashtag #SMS16 in all of our postings so that our social media participation becomes part of the worldwide conversation. This is an exciting way to be part of this ecumenical effort to share the good news about building community with social media. We also encourage you to use the hashtag #SLEC1617 as this is the hashtag we will use for St. Luke's Church. This will also help our ongoing Communications efforts to ensure that St. Luke's is engaged in the Quad Cities community. Let's make our presence and joy known!

Our Youth Group has volunteered to help those of us who are new to social media become more experienced in time for the September 25th event. Stay tuned for more information, and, in the meantime, start thinking about how you might want to participate in Social Media Sunday 2016.

Oh - and Fr. Buisson said this is one day that we can use our cell phones during the service!  Imagine the fun!!

YOU are invited to join us for these presentations and discussions! We hope you will be a participant!

Don't Spend Christmas Alone - 2016 - St. Luke's Gift to the Community - DSCA Event Update
2015 Outstanding Results: Approximate meals served, Dine-In 486, Home-Bound deliveries 238 (724 total). Thank you everyone!
To this day, the lonely and needy are very near to us. In 2016 we envision all dining seats occupied and an increase of home-bound deliveries. With everyone pulling in the same direction and God before us, this will be possible.
To go hand-in-hand with our mission to serve the quad-city community, the Committee Leaders are working together to include guest attendance (dine-in and home-bound) in Chino Valley (CV), Prescott Valley (PV), Dewey/Humboldt and Prescott (P). This includes Transportation (pick-ups) in CV, PV & P.
Agencies are getting aligned to have their 'customers' invited to not be alone for Christmas and celebrate the holiday with us. In CV, PV and P, Police Departments and Fire Departments may be our Home-Bound delivery team (all in the 'works'). Invitations to local businesses to donate cookies and pies (no, not yet, but they need to know now; w ith all kindness, may I remind you that opportunities for our members will come in time??? ) has started. Conversations with three cooks interested in wearing the helm, are in progress. Our Media Communications Committee Leaders for Print & Radio/TV are right on target reviewing deadline schedules.
DSCA-2016 will produce an increase in Youth participation, both as guests and volunteers (more to come).
Parish members: when we ask for your prayers, we do this with trust in God. The results are already written in His book. We pray for our minds, hands and feet to be blessed. We pray for strength and guidance to do the right things to fulfill His will for us; members and guests, we count on your continued prayers.
May God send His blessings upon St. Luke's Episcopal Church and the Quad-city communities which we humbly and joyfully serve.
With enthusiasm,
Angeles Ramos Zarate,
