Repent and believe the Good News of Jesus!

During our spiritual journey that will lead us to the joy of Easter, we are invited to repent, meaning to reorient our mind, heart, and will toward the Lord. We are invited to look at our lives in the light of Jesus' message of love toward God, and live toward our neighbors. To help us on this spiritual journey we can use the traditional Lenten spiritual disciplines of fasting, praying, and giving to the poor.

With the words of the Book of Common Prayer (p. 265) "I invite you, therefore, in the name of the Church, to the observance of a holy Lent, by self-examination and repentance; by prayer, fasting, and self-denial; and by reading and meditating on God's Holy Word."

I wish you a blessed and holy Lent!

St. Luke's Youth: Serving the Poor
On Saturday January 30th, St. Luke's youth group participated with the Granite Creek Park Food Ministry meal serving at the Prescott United Methodist Church. They served more than 100 meals!  They got a glimpse of Prescott's poverty and were proud to be able to contribute to the effort of feeding the poor.
This was a great experience for them, and they all want to keep serving our community.
Recharging
Submitted by Nancy Carmichael, Spiritual Director
I was amazed at the number of rechargeable items on our "to pack" list: iPhone, camera batteries, Kindle reader, iPad, D's hearing aids, etc. We must recharge these items before we go and plan times to unplug and recharge them on our trip. It occurred to me that this is like our call to Lenten spirituality. We need to INTENTIONALLY unplug from the busyness of our lives, review where our batteries have spiritually run low (daily prayer? Bible reading? Outreach activities? Meditation and renewal times?), wipe the slate clean, and start again with renewed Easter joy and commitment.  Many of us know how we best do this. Some need to gather information or seek guidance.

During this visit, we anticipate news of growth and how our gifts have had an impact thus far.
