St. Luke's Weekly Epistle
Week of March 24, 2019
St. Luke's Ministry Fair has arrived!
Come see the many ways you can make Christ Known to your brothers and sisters after each of the services on Saturday and Sunday, March 23 and 24, in the Parish Hall.
Lots of hard work and effort have been put into this event. You don't want to miss it!
How would you like to offer your Time & Talent?
This weekend, Saturday, March 23 and Sunday, March 24 is the time to start thinking about YOUR "Time & Talent". St. Luke's relies on the giving of our special gifts, our time and the talents we possess.

It may be serving at the Altar, helping to feed those in need or working on a committee that keeps St Luke's growing. In the past over half of our parishioners have been involved in some type of giving. We live our mission "To know Christ and to make Christ known."

Stop by the Membership Commission table at the Ministry Fair this weekend and pick up your "Time and Talent" envelope. Envelopes not picked up will be mailed on Tuesday, March 26. Thank you!  Lauree Birchmeier
Dinner out this Saturday!

Following the 5:30 p.m. service on March 23, the group will be headed to Panera Bread for a light dinner together. All are welcome!

Camp Genesis - A New Beginning
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. 1 Cor 13:7-8

This biblical passage is transformative for a child, a young teen who is given an experience that demonstrates in very concrete ways the force of love in embattled lives.  Such an experience awaits the children of incarcerated parents at Camp Genesis (to be held at Chapel Rock June 9-15) this summer.  Free from stigma, judgment, and shame, this environment can empower these kids to bond, to believe, to hope, to endure, and to love.  And, to have some fun!  The Outreach Commission has committed to provide 18 backpacks full of items they need.

We invite the parish community as a whole to help support these kids (ages 8-13) by providing a donation to help fund their stay at Chapel Rock. The cost per child is $350, which covers food, lodging, and staff expenses for a six day stay.  Any donation, no matter how small or how big is greatly appreciated. The goal is to have 40 kids this year. So far, Camp Genesis has just over half the funds they need.

You can make your checks payable to St. Luke's Episcopal Church with Camp Genesis on the memo line so that the monies go specifically to this vital offering of support for these kids. You can put your check in the offering plate or place it in the donation receptacle located on the Outreach table in the Gathering Hall. Thank you so much for your support!! Based on the response from the kids who attended last summer (the very first Camp Genesis), the experience of the camp will be a hope and a memory they can cherish for the rest of their lives.
Need Yarn

It's that time again, when the Outreach Committee needs to collect yarn for local crafters to make sorely needed winter accessories to meet the need in our communities in the fall. Place donations in the collection bag next to the Outreach table in the Gathering Hall during the next three weeks ONLY: March 17-31.  Best yarn for these hats and scarves: Red Heart Super Saver or comparable weight, in bright colors. Over 700 clients are served at the three local non-profits that distribute warm winter clothing and about half of those clients are children. If interested in helping to knit or crochet these items, please contact Carol Covert 928-515-1630.

Isiaiah 55:10-11 For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there until they have watered the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
