St. Luke's Weekly Epistle
Week of October 6
Our Stewardship
is Grounded in Gratitude,
Revealed in Prayer,
Lived in Faith
We are children of God, disciples of Jesus Christ who feel called to a ministry of transformation through stewardship. We are sojourners who have some sense that it is through an understanding of holistic stewardship and a practice of gratitude and generosity that we will grow spiritually. We believe that it is by virtue of our baptism that we are called to this ministry of stewardship.
As the PASS Chaplain, I would like to invite everyone to the 4th Annual PASS open house Wednesday Oct. 16th, 1-4 PM, at 336 N. Rush St., Prescott, AZ. Come meet the Board of Directors and PASS staff as they share with you updates on the completion of project RESTORE, and give you a tour of the facilities while sharing with you what PASS does for the community. Appetizers and drinks will be served. God Bless!   Bill Christy
We had the first session of "Engaging Spirituality"  on Wed Oct 2nd.  Did you miss it?  Join us on Oct 9 and catch up.  We are meeting in the Conference room at 9-11 am.  RSVP to  if interested in breaking open your life to the gospel message in today's world.
The Episcopal Church's 2nd Annual Border Ministries Summit
is being held this year in Arizona at St. Phillips In the Hills Episcopal Church in Tucson, November 21 - 23. People across the country who are interested in border ministry will gather at this event to share information, build partnerships, and increase awareness about ministries taking place along the 2000 mile stretch between the United States and Mexico. The border as an area of heightened social, political, and spiritual importance offers the Church a unique opportunity for ministry. For more information or to register, please access the event webpage here.
Dinner-Wednesday, October 16, 6:30pm
The Young Adults Group will be gathering for dinner and relationship building on Wednesday, October 16th, at 6:30pm in the Young Adults room. This is a gathering for people in their 20s and 30s. If you plan to attend, please RSVP by emailing Mthr. Denise at
Whether you have already been to a meeting or have just been thinking about it; join us this Saturday, October 5th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon in the Meditation Room.
This ministry of healing prayer is modeled for us by Jesus.
Saturday we will learn the basic steps toward becoming a prayer minister and  begin practicing healing prayer. If you cannot make it this month, put it on your calendar for next month. You can join us at any time.  Our meetings will continue monthly on the first Saturday of each month. We will soon begin studying the healing miracles of Jesus. What better inspiration could there be?
Elder Appreciation
The fourteenth Anniversary Celebration was help September 15.  One hundred twenty people attended to pay tribute to the 25 parishioners ove 80 that were in attendance.  The invocation was delivered by Mother Denise Muller.  A sing along of 50's music was led by Margaret Houch, Denis, and Kay Houser. Paul Nelson led the introductions, including those turning 80 this year.  Father Pierre-Henry gave a closing tribute.  Many thanks to Jim Hardesty, photographer, and all who helped with food, decorations, and serving.   Tani Hendrickson & Jean Ehlers, Co-chairs
I wish to thank the members of St. Luke who attended the memorial service for Marian Webster, held on September 27th.  I also wish to thank all those who complemented me for delivering Marian's eulogy during that service.
Her husband, Harry Webster

Meet Our New Senior Warden
To start at the beginning, I was born in Riverside, California. I went to grade school and  graduated high school in Phoenix and returned to California for College. After college, I spent  three years in a Lutheran seminary in Ohio.   I spent most of my working career in Southern California in Human Resources Management  before accepting a job in Miami in 2002. I retired in the fall of 2015 as Sr. Vice President of HR  for Norwegian Cruise Line. Shortly thereafter, I realized a long-time dream of moving back to  Arizona. Prescott was my first choice and after several "familiarization" trips, Sue also thought  this was a wonderful place to retire.   I have two boys, one daughter-in-law and will acquire one more in the fall of 2020. I have two  gorgeous grandchildren who live with their parents in Portland, Oregon.   We came to St. Luke's when we first came out here in 2015 and have been happy here ever  since. I became involved in the Outreach Commission and since then have also done two years  of food preparation and co-chairing Don't Spend Christmas Alone. I have also been a member  of the Native American Ministries Commission since its founding. We love St. Luke's emphasis  on Outreach and serving in the quad-cities community and beyond. I will be co-chairing DSCA  again this year and was both humbled and honored to have been asked to serve as Senior  Warden. I look forward to working with Fr. Pierre-Henry and all of the wonderful people who  are associated with our congregation.
A Note from the Parish Administrator
I wanted to thank each of you for your loving wishes, notes, cards, and, especially, your prayers as I walk this journey of rectal cancer. It's had its ups and downs but, truly, it's been full of many blessings. Though I miss my St. Luke's family terribly, I know I don't walk alone. I know you're walking with me through your prayers and, of course, God is always with me. Before you know it, I'll be back in my office ready to greet you with a smile and a hug.   Fr. Pierre-Henry asked me to again share the link to the health website I've been using to document this recent medical journey of mine. It is: . If you haven't been to this website before you will have to create an account to be able to view my posts.   Take good care!

Working the Crusillo #120 weekend
by Gordon Snider
Working in the support team was both eye opening and rewarding for me. I never realized how much work goes into preparing for the weekend to start, or how much goes on behind the scenes. This was my first time at the Franciscan Renewal Center, and it was wonderful. The biggest part you take away from the weekend is the feeling of community. You really get chances to talk and become acquainted with many other people when you are a part of this experience. In all, it was well worth every second I put in and something I will not soon forget.
To the People of St. Luke's
It has been our honor and  blessing to serve with you these past 15 years.  Thank you for all of the blessings you are!
Lucy and Mike Kemper
