The Call in Arkansas: May is Foster Awareness Month!

Introducing The Call, a faith-based organization and ministry which recruits and mobilizes Christian families to foster or adopt waiting children from Arkansas foster care. The Call streamlines the training, helps families through the certification process, plus provides support and connections to helpful resources even beyond the certification process. I received my training as a foster parent through The Call, and hope to help connect interested individuals and families at St. Luke's to this amazing organization and the many kids who are waiting in need.
For those who are unable to foster or adopt, there are countless other ways to volunteer and help! There are monthly info meetings about The Call, so come attend one and find out more... the next meeting is Monday June 19th, 6:30 to 9 pm at First Baptist Church in Maumelle (100 Valencia Drive, Maumelle, AR 72113). Feel free to reach out to me, Corey McBain, at cmcbain7@yahoo.com  or at church for more info.

With new projects needing funding, the Pocket Change Water Bottle that is located in the Narthex was emptied on 16 May and the amount of donated pocket change was an amazing $87.00.  Earlier in the year, another $38.00 was removed for projects.  The empty jar is awaiting your pocket change for the next projects. T hank you for your contributions that have allowed us to complete these projects.

Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement, which invites Christians around the world to pray between Ascension and Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus Christ. What started out as an invitation from the Archbishops' of Canterbury and York in 2016 to the Church of England has grown into an international and ecumenical call to prayer.

The hope is that:
  • people will commit to pray with God's world-wide family - as a church, individually or as a family;
  • churches will hold prayer events, such as 24-7 prayer, prayer stations and prayer walks, across the UK and in other parts of the world;
  • people will be empowered through prayer by the Holy Spirit, finding new confidence to be witnesses for Jesus Christ.
Pledge2Pray is asking you to pledge your prayers from May 25 to June 4. You can find out more about this organization and how to sign up at https://www.thykingdomcome.global/

Help Needed!

Many of our ministries need your help. If you are interested in any of the following ministries, please contact Caroline in the church office. Thank for you continuous and generous support!!

1. PIE Ministry: We need new PIE delivery people. This is a rotating schedule and pies are generally delivered after the 10:30 service.
2. Nursery Assistance at both services: This is a new ministry. Occasionally we do not have our usual help in the nursery and need a backup.
