Congregational Meeting Announcements
St. Mark's Council will hold a congregational meeting via Zoom on September 13, 2020 at 11:00 am. This meeting is to provide a financial update, as well as discuss and approve expected future costs to continue the ministries of St. Mark, above and beyond our 2020 approved budget. These expenses are largely due to COVID related projects and include things the COVID Response, Finance, and Council teams have been researching and discussing throughout the spring and summer; such as: critical items to sanitize the air circulated through our HVAC system, necessary equipment to provide live stream worship opportunities, and modernizing access to the church property.

St. Mark's Council and Finance team requested and received a Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan in the amount of $31,600. These funds were used to cover payroll, utilities, and mortgage interest for a 10-week period. As a result of the PPP loan and the generous giving of our members, we now have a positive balance in our General Fund of $27,858 as of July 31. We are researching if it is an option to repay the PPP loan if the congregation decides to do so, however, at this time, without the PPP loan St. Mark would have a $4,000 deficit in our General Fund, as of July 31, 2020.

Additionally, Council and Finance will provide an update on additional projects underway using designated funds, which includes resurfacing and striping the parking lot and much needed repair on our lighted sign. The St. Mark Church Council is requesting a virtual congregational meeting (with a necessary quorum and virtual vote) to approve moving a portion of the abundant General Fund into the designated Capital Projects Fund in order to work on projects to propel the community and ministry of St. Mark into the unknown years to come.

An opportunity for questions and discussion will be possible during the meeting on September 9, but please reach out to the Finance Team or office ( if you have any immediate questions.
Ministry Opportunities
Socially Together, Physically Distanced Outdoor Gatherings
We know that being physically apart has been difficult for many of us, and we are trying to be creative in safe opportunities to gather together for conversation, care, and fun. We have created a sign up for opportunities to gather with other members of the body of Christ in the St. Mark parking lot/lawn. If you would like to "host" a gathering, contact Tory at to schedule a time and we will add it to the list!

Drive Thru Sending for Tory
Join us this Wednesday, from 4:00-7:00 pm to have a drive thru sending as Tory heads off to new adventures in Denver, CO! Make sure to stop by and give well wishes.
Tory will spend the next few weeks training our new Office Manager & Youth Director before officially ending her time with us.

Welcome Jenny Aleckson! (and Drive Thru Communion)
St. Mark is excited to welcome Jenny Aleckson as our new office manager and youth director! Jenny will be starting this Monday, August 24, and be training for a few weeks with Tory. We encourage you to reach out in new ways and welcome Jenny into the St. Mark family. There will be an opportunity to meet Jenny at our next Drive Thru communion Wednesday, September 9 from 4:00-7:00 pm.

Worship Volunteers Needed!
Did you know our worship volunteer list is empty starting in September?! We encourage everyone to sign up to help lead worship. Sign up here for opportunities throughout the fall!
We will send you a digital copy of the readings or prayers and ask you to record them using your phone or laptop and send them to Tory/Jenny to add to worship.

St. Mark Lock Box
We have heard many requests of having a safe place for individually to drop off offering, notes, letters, etc. at church. We have placed a lockbox above the doorbell by the entrance to the church. Please use this for anything you may need to drop off! We will be checking it on a regular basis.

Volunteer Painters Needed
Have you noticed the trees missing near the shed?! We had a few wonderful volunteers take down the trees that were overtaking the shed in the parking lot. But now it's very evident that our shed needs a little TLC. We are looking for a few volunteers who would be willing to clean up and paint the exterior of the shed, as well as the door and trim of the shed and the basement door. If you are interested and willing, please contact the office:; 763-784-2558.

Lawn Mowers and Grounds Maintenance
We would like to thank Noah Wendorf for mowing the lawn this week! Dave Svardahl, you are up this week.
