The Davis family will host a reception following worship on Saturday, May 25, to celebrate Nic Davis' graduation from UCI with a B.A. in Criminology. Feel free to come and go between 6:00-8:00pm.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE: Friend of St. Mark, Dr. Gerald Larson, died after a brief illness on April 27th. A renowned professor of world religions, Gerry shared his wisdom with us in classes he taught here. A service celebrating his life will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Rancho Santa Margarita this Saturday May 18 at 1 p.m.

MEDITATION GROUP: This Thursday May 16 from 3:00 to 4:00 will be our final Meditation group meeting until the fall. Please join us in the choir room. Contact  SallieJane.Super@gmail.com  with any questions. 

RELATIONSHIP PRESENTATION: Sunday,   May 19 at 11:00 am. Michael Gass, Ph.D., licensed psychologist, an elder of St. Mark and Health Ministries Commission will speak about the healthy relationship and dysfunctional relationship.  This will include the characteristics and dynamics of healthy and dysfunctional relationships, past and present experiences and factors contributing to the type of relationship, communication, problem solving skills, anger management and codependency.  Click Here for more information. TWEEN EVENT SUNDAY: We will meet at Turtle Rock Community Park in Irvine near the Shean’s home from 4:00-5:30pm. We will play kickball and other games, so wear sports clothes/shoes and sunscreen! Bring your friends, a towel, and a water bottle. All 4-6th graders welcome! The park is located at 1 Sunnyhill, Irvine 92603.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY NEEDS YOUR HELP:    This year our children put together toiletry bags with welcome notes for the Family Promise families. We will assemble bags again in June for Family Promise families. The bags include a wash cloth, comb, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner, lotion and a note of welcome from the children. Donated items can be placed in the basket on the Welcome Cart. Thank you from the St. Mark children.

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME: St. Mark day at the ballpark will be a 1:00 PM game on May 26 with the Texas Rangers. We will tailgate before the game by the Big A sign in the parking lot. Tickets are $25 and include food and beverages at the tailgate. Sign up on the patio Sunday or contact Dan Ardell at dardell41@gmail.com to save your seat.

MEMBERS OF ST. MARK HAVE BEEN INVITED to attend an Iftar Dinner at the Orange County Islamic Foundation (23581 Madero Dr. in Mission Viejo) on Wed., May 29, from 6:30 to 9:00pm. There is limited seating. If you would like to attend, please contact the church office by Monday (5/20) at  stmark@stmarkpresbyterian.org

GET ON THE BUS: St. Mark has been participating in the GOTB program since 2010. Sandy Krogh has been the Coordinator since the beginning of our participation and is a dedicated and loving presence to the families involved. Sandy’s commitment and generosity are greatly appreciated! An annual event, GOTB offers free transportation for the children and their caregivers to the prison. Each child is provided a travel bag, a photo with his or her parent, and meals for the day (breakfast, snacks, lunch at the prison, and dinner). On the trip home each child will receive a teddy bear with a letter from their parent and post-event counseling. Click Here for a 2.5 min video about the program.

SAVE THE DATE Join us on June 2 nd in the Fellowship hall for "Shore Stories," a 30-minute collection of short films containing interviews and information relating to the disastrous effects of offshore drilling.  Oceana , a non-profit which works to protect and restore oceans on a global scale will be here to show the film followed by Q & A. 

NEW MEMBERS WORKSHOP:   If you are interested in exploring membership at St. Mark, our next New Member Inquirers Workshop will be  Saturday, June 8 , from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM, with lunch provided and child care by request by June 2 . FATHER GREG BOYLE IS COMING TO ST. MARK: The Presbytery of Los Ranchos is offering a limited number of FREE guest tickets to hear Father Greg Boyle speak for our Presbytery Gathering on May 30 th . Members of the community are invited to join the PLR for a presentation by Father Boyle, founder of Homeboy Industries. Father Boyle will be sharing his wisdom from his latest book,  Barking to the Choir: The Power of Radical Kinship.  Click Here to Register

OPPORTUNITY TO SUPPORT MOTHERS EVERYWHERE:   As people of faith, we are called to stand with people who live with hunger and poverty by speaking out in support of the Global Nutrition Resolution (H. Res. 189). The resolution recognizes the importance of continued U.S. leadership to accelerate global progress against maternal and child malnutrition.
