Dear St. Mark Families,

As things return to normal as possible at St. Mark School, I want to take this opportunity to update you on some of our Back-to-School plans for the fall. 

School Supplies 
By now you should have received a class supply list for your child for both the classroom teacher as well as an Art supply list. If you haven't received the list, please contact Mrs. Mannino at as soon as possible. 

Supply Drop Off
New and returning (Kindergarten through Grade 8) parents and students are invited to drop off classroom supplies prior to the first day of school, August 23rd through August 27th between the hours of 7:30am-11:30am.

Preschool families are invited to bring their supplies on their preschool popsicle social day which will be announced in the coming days.

New Parent Orientation
There will be a New Parent Orientation for incoming families of students in grades K-8 on Monday, August 30 at 6:30 pm.

Kindergarten Meet & Greet
There will be a Kindergarten Meet & Greet for parents and students on Tuesday, August 31 at 6:30 pm.

First Week of School Grades K-8
Thursday, September 2 -- Dismissal at 11:25 
Friday, September 3 -- Dismissal at 11:25 
Monday, September 6 -- NO SCHOOL 
Tuesday, September 7 -- First Full Day 

First Week of School -- Little Lions Preschool 
Preschool 3’s Orientation: Thursday, September 2 9:00-10:00 am 
Parents are requested to attend. 

Preschool 4’s Orientation: Friday, September 3 9:00-10:00 am
Parents are requested to attend. 

Tuesday, September 7 -- First Full Day of Preschool

Our students will be returning to the cafeteria for lunch. The hot lunch and milk programs will return in the fall. Mrs. Mannino will send the order forms out over the coming weeks.  

Afterschool Program
Registration for our After School Program is open now! All registrations must be received by August 16, 2021.  Click here for registration forms.

Middle School 
Our Middle School will return to rotation classroom spaces. Grade 7 homeroom will return to the Science Lab. 

Dress Code
The Dress Code will be strictly enforced this school year. Click here to review the complete 2021-2022 St. Mark School Dress Code.

St. Mark School Policies Regarding Student Appearance: 
  • Faddish haircuts or any change in hair color are not permitted. Boys' hair must remain above the collar in length. 

  • Boys and girls are expected to have their shirts/blouses tucked in at all times.

  • Boys are expected to wear belts in Grades 1-8.

  • Ties and button down shirts for Grades 1-8 will return with the winter uniform on 11/1/2021.

  • St. Mark Sweatshirts/Hoodies may be worn only on gym days. The exception to this policy: Grade 8 may wear their class sweatshirts daily beginning 11/1/2021. High School sweatshirts may be worn once the 8th grader chooses their intended high school after 11/1/2021. 

  • Make-up, fake nails, bracelets, dangling earrings and multiple earrings are not appropriate with school uniforms and may not be worn.
  • Clogs, backless shoes, sandals, flip-flops, boots, moccasins, slippers, and work shoes may not be worn. This also applies to Dress Down Days, open toe shoes are not permitted. 

All dress code regulations can be found in the St. Mark School handbook. Failure to adhere to the school dress code may result in a student may be sent home to comply with the policy. Repeated failure to adhere to the school policy may result in detention.

Field Trips 
Field Trips will return at the discretion of the classroom teacher.

Students in grades K through 8 will return to in-person mass. 

Please note: All plans are subject to change if we receive different directives from the Office of the Superintendent, Diocese of Schools and/or the Stratford Health Department.

Summer Learning

This is gentle reminder for our returning Grade 1 through 8 students to keep their skills sharp during the summer months using Edmentum and Reading Eggs on-line learning platforms.

  • Returning students entering Grades 2 through 8 are strongly encouraged to engage in 30 minutes of work on each Edmentum Personalized Exact Path (Mathematics, Reading, Language) per week.

  • Returning students entering Grade 1 are strongly encouraged to engage in 30 minutes of work per week on Reading Eggs.

New students entering Grades K and 1 will be introduced to Reading Eggs in September, while Edmentum will be introduced to new students entering Grades 2 through 8.

Both new and returning students are encouraged to keep track of summer reading for the CT Governor's Reading Challenge Tales and Tails. Student Summer Reading Journal can be found here. For those that participate in the Governor's Reading Challenge, students will enjoy a yummy treat toward the end of September from the ice cream truck! Our Little Lions preschool students will receive a treat as welcome to our community!
