Dear St. Mark Families,

Many things in our lives and in our world are subject to change. Yet all of us find security in relationships and values that endure. Foremost among these are our family relationships. We can confidently accept change if we know that we will continue to be loved by our family and by God. We help impart this sense of trust and confidence in our own children with our daily assurances to them that nothing can change our love for them.

The same is true with God and God’s love for us. In Sunday's Gospel, Mark 13:24-32, Jesus teaches us that things in our world will change and that the world itself will one day end. We don’t need to be fearful because God’s love for us will never end. I encourage our St. Mark Community to thank God for his never-ending love for us by praying together the Glory Be to the Father.

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.

Yours in Christ,
Mrs. Warner

Veterans Day

Veterans Day is a very special day in our country when we thank all those who served in the United States Armed Forces in wartime or in peacetime. While those who died are also remembered on Veterans Day, it is largely intended to thank living veterans for their service, to show our appreciation for their contributions to our national security, and to acknowledge that all those who have served have made great sacrifices.

On Thursday, November 11th, St. Mark School observed Veterans Day in a number of ways. Each class, PK through Grade 8 "planted" American Flags in the grass along the Nemergut Road entrance to create a garden of flags in honor of Military Veterans. Students, faculty, and staff contributed over $300 to be donated directly to the Stratford Veterans Memorial Museum. Finally, St. Mark School's Veterans Day Wall of Honor was displayed honoring family and friends who have served our country in the U.S. Armed Forces.
St. Augustine Medal of Honor

St. Mark School is proud to announce Mr. Alexander and Mrs. Norine Pigliucci as the 2021 Saint Augustine Medal of Service recipients. Honorees are recognized annually for their volunteer service to parishes, schools, and charities throughout Fairfield County.

Norine and Alex are proud parents of two St. Mark students: Peter who graduated in 2019 and Paul who is currently in Grade 8. Both parents are products of Catholic elementary and secondary education. Norine also graduated from St. Mark School and then continued to St. Joseph High School in Trumbull and Marist University. Alex graduated from St. Mary School in Bethel, Fairfield Prep, and Cornell University.

Alex is currently President of Management Consulting at a global CEO Advisory Firm in New York. Norine is an active parent at St. Mark School, having served as Room Parent for ten years and chaired the St. Mark School Teacher Appreciation Luncheon for five years. Their sons, Peter and Paul, are both altar servers. The Pigliuccis attend Mass at St. Mark Church in Stratford and St. Lawrence Church in Shelton, where they currently reside.

The Pigliuccis were honored at the Saint Augustine Medal prayer service and awards ceremony at St. Augustine Cathedral in Bridgeport on Saturday, November 6, 2021. The St. Augustine Medal of Service was instituted in 2005 to recognize the “unsung heroes” who unselfishly give of their time and talents to build up school and parish communities.
Weather Related Emergency Alert System

In anticipation of the winter season, St. Mark School's emergency alert system (which will call, text and email) will be tested on Monday, November 15th at 3:00 pm. If you do not receive the test alert, or need to make changes to your contact information, please call the Main Office 203-375-4291.

Delayed Openings and School Cancellations

When weather conditions or other emergencies warrant the closing of school, Preschool through Grade 8 families will be contacted by our emergency alert system. When the Stratford public schools are closed or delayed due to inclement weather, St. Mark School will also be closed or delayed.

If there is a delayed opening St. Mark School will open at 9:30 a.m. with class beginning at 9:45 a.m.

If school closes early for weather related reasons, dismissal will be at 11:25 a.m. Parents will be alerted through our emergency alert system. Our After School Program will not be held when there is early dismissal due to weather or emergencies.
Volunteers Needed

While we are happy to return to our hot lunch partnership with Sodexo Food Services, the success of our program depends on our parent volunteers who are responsible for sorting and distributing hot lunch meals to students.

Hot Lunch Volunteers still needed on a regular daily schedule from 11:30am-1:00pm. Hot Lunch Volunteers earn 2 hour HSA volunteer credit per shift.

If you are able to help please email for further details.

Please remember you must be VIRTUS trained in order to volunteer for any school event, function or volunteer opportunity.
St. Mark Basketball Sponsorship Opportunities

Are you looking to promote your business or brand?

The St. Mark Basketball program is currently looking for sponsors for our upcoming season. We would love to promote local businesses at upcoming HOME Fairfield County Basketball League games that run from December 2021 through March 2022 and at our annual basketball tournament, which will takes place in February and March 2022. This is an excellent way to get new customers while supporting local youth sports programs!

Grant Opportunities

Grant writing is a vital part of St. Mark School’s fundraising strategy. In recent years, we have been very fortunate to be the recipient of grant funds from a number of foundations. However as you can imagine, non-profit grant seeking is highly competitive. Therefore, we are reaching out to our school community in search of:
  • Grant Foundations: Might you have any connections to foundations or know of any that may consider an application from St. Mark School?
  • Experienced Grant Writers: Do you have expertise in grant writing or know anyone that may wish to assist St. Mark School in the process?

As always, “it takes a village” and we appreciate any and all support. Please contact me at Thank you!
Morning Drop Off Reminders

We ask that the following protocols be followed by our school community for the safety of our students.

  • Parents utilizing Parish Center entrance for Preschool and Goodbye Zone are to enter using the driveway across the street from the farm.

  • Doors will close promptly at 7:45am in order for classes to be on time for 8am daily mass.

  • Speed limit is 5 mph in the parking lot.

  • The Nemergut Drive entrance is the ONLY EXIT during arrival and dismissal times. Do not use any other driveway to exit the parking lot.

Please note: If someone other than yourself is dropping off, please relay this important information.
