Weekly Giving Update

We have a little over one month left in this fiscal year. Our goal for May and June is to exceed our budget for offering, so that our General Ministry Fund can recover lost ground and fully support the mission of our congregation. Please join us, as you are able, in reaching our goal! Thank you.

Congregational Meeting on June 9

Please plan to join us for a very important meeting of our congregation on Sunday, June 9 at 12:15 p.m. We are asking all members of St. Mark's to be at this semi-annual meeting of the congregation when we make key decisions about our shared mission. Lunch will be served and childcare will be provided.

Greening Congregation Task Force

Our time of hibernation is over and the Greening Congregation Task Force will resume monthly meetings on the last Thursday of each month. We invite all of you who would like to join us in our efforts to care for the earth in faithful ways to join us next Thursday, May 30, at 6:30 p.m. in the Fireside Room.

April 2019 - General Ministry Fund Financial Update

Offerings for April were $9,135 below budget ($87,633 versus budgeted offerings of $96,768). Fiscal year-to-date (FYTD), we are now $43,375 below budgeted offerings of $883,926, and 2.3% above last year's actual offerings over the same time period.

Expenses for April were $1,880 below budget, spending $84,886 versus a budgeted $86,766. FYTD, we are $30,370 below budgeted expenses of $880,067. Reasons remain the same as in recent months.

The bottom line for April is that we brought in $3,231 more than we spent versus our projection to bring in $10,252 more than we spent. This puts us $7,021 behind budget for the month. On a FYTD basis, we are now $10,509 behind budget on a net basis (i.e.,looking at total inflows and outflows). We have spent $4,150 more than we have brought in versus a projection to bring in $6,359 more than we spent at this point in the fiscal year.

Feel free to contact Jennifer Droubay or Mike McKeller in the Church office with any questions. Thank you.

Speak Up: Moral Voices

The Peace and Justice Committee at St. Mark's suggests we all consider using our moral voices to advocate for justice in the following areas: food, housing, creation, and immigration.

During the past few months of the Washington legislative session, we asked you to contact your state representatives and senators in support of specific legislation. Thanks in part to you, and hundreds of other voters who expressed their opinions, we achieved the following:
HR 1587 signed into law, increasing access to fresh fruits and vegetables for people with limited incomes;
HR 1406 signed into law, allowing local jurisdictions like Tacoma to retain some sales tax for affordable housing;
$175 million allocated to the Housing Trust Fund within the Capital Budget.
