Operation Christmas Child

St. Mark's is again blessed to be a Collection Center for Operation Christmas Child (OCC). This year we'll need a Project Manager or Managers who will be responsible for promoting the OCC program at St. Mark's beginning in October in preparation for National Collection Week in November. The Project Manager(s) have an opportunity to attend a special OCC workshop on September 24th with guest speaker, Livia, a shoebox recipient years ago. Nancy Vogel will oversee all details surrounding the collection center during National Collection Week and is happy to assist our Project Manager(s). If you are able to help with OCC, please contact Cindy Shuckford at [email protected] or (309) 431-9229. Thank you in advance for your prayerful consideration of this service opportunity!

St. Mark's wants to make sure we have the most current contact information regarding your household. To help out, an online form has been created so you can send your information in. You're also welcome to email the information to [email protected] or call (309) 444-4618.
Change for Charity

Don't forget to bring your change for Sunday, July 24! Peoria Rescue Ministries is a gospel-centered ministry of mercy that creates pathways out of poverty through Jesus with their neighbors in need. Peoria Rescue Ministries has been serving the poor and those in need since 1955. Through their five areas of ministry, they provide food, shelter, clothing, counseling, pregnancy & parenting services, and renewal programs to the people of Central Illinois.

August Missions Opportunity

The Washington Food Pantry Garden will be harvesting for WHIP on Tuesday Aug 2 at 6:00 pm. Karen Kremer will be there and would love your help to harvest for about 30 minutes. All ages welcome and no experience is required. Text Karen at (309) 231-7931 or contact the office via email at [email protected], or phone at (309) 444-4618. Not sure, or your plans change at the last minute? Just come to the garden located between the Fire Station and Five Points.

Proverbs 22:9 - A generous person will be blessed, for he gives some of his food to the poor.
Children and Family Ministry

Hello everyone, my name is Shannon Boynton and I would love to introduce myself as the new Director of Children and Family Ministry at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Raised in a small town called Aledo, about 1.5 hours away from the Peoria area, I moved to Metamora, on July 15, 2022. I grew up in a loving home with my mother, grandmother, and grandfather. Relationships and community building is what I love doing most and I am so excited to do that here at St. Mark’s. The church has been a significant part of my life, and I have been through baptism, communion, confirmation, and Sunday school. I am so excited to get to know you all more and can’t wait to continue the legacy here at St. Mark’s!
Sunday School/Rally Day

Mark your calendars, Sunday School will be starting back up at St. Mark’s with our kick-off on Rally Day, Sunday, September 11, 2022. Sunday School registration has begun. You can register online via the QR code, here or on the form in the Gathering Space. There will be a new structure that involves music, crafts, lessons, and most importantly, FUN! One of my goals as coming into this new role is to provide a safe and fun environment for the children of St. Mark’s Church.

July Youth News

Saturday, July 23 – 8:00 pm-11:00 pm

It's outdoor movie night in the back parking lot! We’ll provide popcorn, hot dogs, drinks, and the movie! You bring a chair or a blanket and come in your comfy clothes! Our movie will be Sonic the Hedgehog 2! This is a great FREE event so invite all of your friends to join you. Should the weather decide not to cooperate, we'll move inside and watch in the John Bates FLC. Open to students from 7-12 grade!

Friday, July 29 – 10:00 am-12:30 pm

Help send kids in need to school with school supplies and a backpack! We'll leave the church at 9:30 am for the Dream Center where we will stuff backpacks for the Backpack Peoria event. After we’re done, it's off to find a place to eat lunch and reflect on our experience. This event is open to students in 7-12 grade and would be a great opportunity to get some confirmation service hours in this summer!
