The eLion
All of us at St. Mark’s share a commitment to our faith and to our community, and we welcome visitors regardless of religious background, race, sexual orientation, or gender identity. Everyone is welcome here.
Palm Sunday Service
Sunday, April 14 at 8 a.m. & 10:30 a.m.

This service begins with a procession with palms and includes a dramatic reading of the passion narrative.
Maundy Thursday
April 18 at  7:30 p.m.

This service remembers the Maundy, the commandment of Christ to love one another even as each has been loved by him. And we remember his example in the washing of feet. The Eucharist is followed by the somber stripping of the adornments from the altar and church.
Good Friday
April 19 at Noon.

The service will include the solemn collects, communion from the reserve sacrament, and veneration of the cross.

The Great Vigil of Easter
Saturday, April 20 at 8 p.m.

This is the first celebration of the Resurrection amid candles and song, and stories of the great and wonderful things God has done for God’s people.
The Sunday of the Resurrection
Sunday, April 21 at 8 a.m. & 10:30 a.m.
Eucharist will be celebrated at both services. Between the services, children and adults are invited to gather for an intergenerational time of formation from 9:15 – 10:15 a.m.
The Easter Egg Hunt will take place on the front lawn after the 10:30 a.m. service

Worship & Formation
Easter Preparations
You are invited to join in the preparation of the sanctuary and parlor for our Easter Celebrations - a joyful ministry for young and old alike. We will gather in the Parlor at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 20. The work typically takes just under 2 hours.

Easter Hospitality
You are inv ited to bring a treat to share for after the Easter Vigil (Saturday, April 20 at 8 p.m.) and/or after either service on Easter Morning (Sunday, April 21 at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.). These services typically bring in a fair number of first time worshippers and we want to be sure that we have our hospitality ministry front and center. Thank you all! Thank you to Lori Goede for hosting the coffee hour after the 10:30 a.m. service. Hosts are still needed for the Vigil and the 8 a.m. service. Please contact Pastor Debra at rector@stmarksevanston.org if you can host either of these services – a great opportunity for a family, a couple, or a couple of friends.

Come and Sing Choir Sundays! Last Sunday of Each Month
Anytime is a good time to join the choir! However, sometimes the pieces are a little intimidating to just pick up and Thursday night rehearsals are too much for some people’s busy schedule. To accommodate this, an accessible choral work will be chosen for “drop-ins” to join on the last Sunday of each Month. No choral experience necessary! No strings attached! To participate, stop into the sanctuary 30 minutes before the later worship service to rehearse without a mid-week, late-night rehearsal. Rehearsal for the “Come and Sing Choir Sunday” will be every Sunday in the month leading up to the Sunday in which the piece is to be sung.
(Anyone is welcome to join the choir on all Sundays with rehearsals on Thursday nights in the choir room from 7:30-9:00.)
Coffee Hour Hosts Needed for after services through May 5th! If you are available to help set up and clean up after a service, please sign up in the parlor, or email Timothy and let him know what weekend!

Alleluia Stations!
All ages are invited to gather on Easter Sunday (April 21) from 9:15 – 10:15 for a time of Easter fellowship and activities: arts and crafts, greeting card making, and more! We will meet in Bethlehem Chapel to get the morning rolling! Pastor Debra hopes to see you all there!

Adult Formation: Rethinking Church!
On Sunday, April 28 from 9:15-10:15, we will gather in Bethlehem Chapel to watch Tod Bolsinger's talk at the 2017 Rethinking Church conference at Luther Seminary, Saint Paul, MN. Bolsinger is the author of Canoeing the Mountains and Vice President for Vocation and Formation at Fuller Seminary. We will begin promptly at 9:15 so that we can see the whole thing in the time we have together and still have a few minutes for conversation.
Staying Connected
Jubi-latte and Tea Deum
Weekly conversation over coffee or tea with Pastor Debra has moved! We now gather on Thursdays from 1:30-2:30 at Curt’s Cafe South (1813 Dempster St) . Hope to see you there!

NOTE: We will not be meeting on Thur, April 18th!

Coriolis Spring Concert will take place on Saturday, May 18 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Luke’s (939 Hinman, Evanston). This is their 32nd spring program focusing on the theme Conflict and Resolution. Conflict and resolution are often found in the choral literature; sometimes in the music itself, sometimes in the text, and sometimes both. References abound to “my soul on fire,” calls for help (alas!), crowds crying out in scorn or threatening persecution and murder, and contemplation of silence and solitude. But fear not! Resolution awaits in a cappella settings by Barber, Cordero, Dowland, Lauridsen, Stroop, Tchaikovsky, Whitacre, and more. St. Mark’s parishioners Patrick Furlong and Chris Schultze both sing with Coriolis. Program details are available on their Facebook page. You may purchase concert tickets either online at their website, or at the door on the day of the concert. Credit cards are always accepted. General admission is $20, and youth tickets for those 18 and under are $5. For more information, please call Eric Skalinder at 847.420.5085.

Please place the jugs in the cart at the back of the sanctuary. Thank you.

Sandwich-Makers Wanted
Did you know that every week St. Mark’s and St. Matthew’s serve lunch to between 50 and 70 guests in Cunningham Hall? AND, did you know that you can get involved by helping to make those lunches on Tuesday evenings? It’s all true! Sandwich-making takes place on the 2 nd , 3 rd , 4 th , and (when it exists) 5 th  Tuesday of each month in the kitchen from 6 – 6:30 p.m. but we need your help. If you can spend 30 minutes even once in a while, we could use your help. Find the sign-up link in our eLion! If the schedule changes (sometimes a special meal is prepared and lunch making takes place at a different time), you will get an email letting you know! If you have any questions, please contact Donna Richardson at 847-712-0705 or  dlynnrich322@gmail.com.
