"If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father's commandments and remain in his love."
~Jn 15:10
Mother’s Day
Happy Mother’s Day to all of our moms. I pray that God abundantly blesses you in your vocation as mothers. We also remember our mothers who have died and pray that they now rest with God and intercede for us, their children.

Reopening at Church
Several people have made two requests for the weekend Masses:
1) that we stop requiring people to register for the Mass; and, 2) that we allow more people. As I mentioned in my recent letter to all parishioners, the COVID-19 protocols remain in place at church. Although there is no cap on the number of people who can attend Mass in person, those who attend Mass must wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth and maintain a six-foot distance from people of other households. Archbishop Hebda recently emphasized our obligation to obey and enforce these protocols. Those protocols limit the number of people who can attend Mass in person. The online registration helps us ensure that we have the right number of people for the space, given the limitations imposed on us. Without the online registration, we would be forced to turn away people once our capacity is reached. I recognize that online registration is an inconvenience. However, it is an inconvenience I am asking you to embrace until the rules change and we can open more robustly. We have added the 5:00 PM Mass and increased the number of spots at the other two Masses, so that more people can attend in person. I am grateful for your cooperation with the protocols and request that you contact me with questions or concerns.

Senior Mass and Lunch
We will have a special Mass for our seniors at 11:00 AM on May 13, 2021. You can attend Mass in the church or from your car in the parking lot. If you are in the parking lot, Holy Communion will be brought to you. A box lunch will be distributed to you after Mass. I look forward to being with you next week.

Confirmation Next Weekend
All of the Masses on May 15 and 16 are reserved for our Confirmation candidates and their families. Please pray for our young people as they receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Peace, Fr. Talbot

Funerals are Private
In our ongoing efforts to keep parishioners as safe as possible during COVID-19, funerals at St. Mary’s will be private. Many families choose to have the funeral livestreamed so that others can participate online.
Mentor Ministry Opportunity Available
Do you feel called to journey with disciples of Christ and help welcome them to the parish? If yes, please consider serving at St. Mary’s as part of the New Parishioner Mentor Ministry! Through this ministry, incoming new parishioners will be connected to a Mentor Minister (this could be you!) to help them settle into the community life of St. Mary’s. As with all ministries, the Church needs ministers like you, willing and ready to serve. If you would like to discern if this ministry is where God is pointing you, please email Nick at nbrady@stmarys-wbl.org for details on the next steps.
Senior Mass and Lunch
The Senior Mass and Lunch is Thursday, May 13, at 11:00 AM. This year’s Mass will be in the church. You may attend Mass in the church or stay in your car in the parking lot and listen on your radio. Communion will be brought to your car. Box lunches will be distributed after Mass. Your to go boxes will be inclusive of: chicken salad in a fruit boat, small croissant with butter and a Milano cookie. RSVP is not required for this Senior programming event.
Memorial Day Mass at the Cemetery
After cancelling this event last year due to Covid, we are going to bring back the outdoor Mass at the cemetery in 2021! The Mass will be on Monday, May 31 at 9:00 AM. Our cemetery is located at 1625 Stillwater Street in White Bear Township.
Please bring a lawn chair. The Mass takes place in the north end of the cemetery. In that area, there is a road around the big central area. There is plenty of room to park there. Otherwise, there is limited parking in the rest of the cemetery Parking on the street is the alternative.
The protocol for an outdoor event in Minnesota is that the workers/volunteers are required to wear masks. Participants are not required to wear masks if they stay six feet from others. If you want to receive communion, you will have to put on/wear a mask for the Eucharistic minister to approach you. Other things that are different from past Masses at the cemetery are the following: no worship aids, no passing the basket (although there will be a way to donate) and no treats after Mass this year. Let’s hope it is a beautiful day! In case of rain we will celebrate Mass in the church.

Consider Remote Giving to Support Our Parish
There are currently three ways to give electronically:
  1. Monthly amount transferred from your bank account (click on the DONATE button on our website home page to find a form). It would be better to mail the form to us, since you need to include a voided check.
  2. Weekly, monthly, or one-time checks sent by your bank or other financial service organization (contact your bank to set up a plan that works for you). It is helpful to have your envelope number on the check your bank sends to us.
  3. Weekly, monthly, or one-time gifts charged to your credit card (click on the DONATE button on our website home page to set up your gift).

There is a way to give remotely that is not “high tech”: Simply mail us your check. Our address:
4690 Bald Eagle Avenue, White Bear Lake, 55110.

Thank you so much for your support in this difficult time.
