Dear Families,

Tomorrow we  celebrate the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi with the annual Blessing of the Pets on Friday, October 4 at 3:00 pm. We will meet in the gardens in front of the Church Atrium. Please be sure that all animals are on leashes or in proper pet cages or containers to insure a safe blessing.

Did you know that St. Mary's Thrift Shop is an important ministry for St. Mary's Parish and our surrounding community. It offers a wonderful volunteer opportunity for parishioners while providing an affordable shopping experience for all. In addition, last year St. Mary's Thrift Shop generated more than $187,000 in gross revenue to St. Mary's Visitation Parish and Sc hool.

St. Mary's Thrift Shop would like to invite SMV school moms to a private shopping experience on Wednesday, October 9th from 6:30-8:30pm!  Come and shop our designer purses, clothes, shoes and boots for the entire family. Wine, soft drinks and light appetizers will be served. Come and have a relaxing time (without kids) and enjoy our wonderful Thrift Shop!  If you have any questions please call Terri, 262-784-6644, or email sistermaryterri@gmail.com .  We look forward to seeing you!

Check out the October issue of Elm Grove News-Independent.  Our students have articles in this month's edition.

Any walker who registers before October 9, will be guaranteed a Soles for Catholic Education Walk t-shirt!  Remember, that 100% of the pledge money you raise stays as St. Mary's to help support our Makerspace . Just a reminder as you look at your calendar for October.  School is closed next Friday,  October 11th for a Professional Development Day for the teachers.  Enjoy the long weekend!
Are you looking for some Random Acts of Kindness for your children. Here are some ideas they can do all on their own to show more kindness in the world around them. Click here, print it out and put it on the fridge and encourage your children to do a few acts of kindness a week.

* Be good to people. You will be remembered more for your kindness than any level of success you could possibly attain.

Faithfully Yours,
Mrs. Mary Tretow

Photo Day
Photo Day at SMV is October 9.  We start first thing in the morning and we are finished usually by 9:30am.  The photo envelope will be sent home with each child by Friday of this week.  Please fill it out and return them back to the teacher.

Hot Lunch Reminder
Remember to place your hot lunch order for the month of November.

Note to SMV Bike Riders
Parents please remind your children to exercise caution when they ride their bikes down the paths that let out onto the parking lot and to be aware that cars are both entering and exiting at the same time?  We have seen many occasions where the child goes down the side hill and cuts right in front of the cars entering.  Also drivers are unable to see bikes on the path coming into the parking lot as they are exiting.  There has been frequent occasions where kids shoot right into the exit lane.  According to the handbook, bike riders should should walk their bikes in the parking lot.  Drivers need to slow down in a school parking lot.

After School Spanish
Once again we are offering afterschool Spanish for grades K5 thru 5th beginning October 7. Click  here for more details.

Positively SMV

SMV owes Mrs. Jennifer Zils a HUGE thank you!  Mrs. Zils and her team, Annie Bolger, Erin Lampe, Michelle Akel, and Akel Akel hosted another amazing Dance-A-Thon this  past week.  This fundraiser was a wonderful success and would not have been possible without the many, many hours they put into planning this event.  Most importantly, the kids had a blast!  The money raised will go towards the various school upgrades and items that Home and School supports.  Thank you Mrs. Zils and team for your dedication to our school.
