Principal  Notes                                                         April 4, 2019

Dear Families,

In Lent we are called to give alms to those in need, and to build the sense of stewardship in our lives.  Did you know that all our students are given stewardship envelopes to use at the Tuesday school mass? We want to teach our students about time, talent and treasure. Students are being encouraged to share in the envelope how they were good stewards of God's creation in the past week.  They may also draw pictures of good deeds they did, write a prayer for someone, ask for God's help or give from their own money to help build the church and those in need.

We had a great turnout for the auction on Saturday night!   I want to thank our chairpersons Katy Carnell and Sue Olbrantz.  Their talents and expertise at leadership, organization, creativity, attention to details and ability to get others involved made this auction a huge success.  I also want to thank Michelle Akel- Silent Auction/Website, Katie and Patrick Costigan- Food, Paula Horning and Kim Spano- Live Auction, Monica Schmidt- Acquisitions Lead, Maren Kleinmann- Desserts/Raffle, Julie Perez, Kate Janusz, Deanna Pilgreen- Games, Anne and John Mueller- Bar, Belinda Russell- Sponsorship, Mr Newman and Mia Giampietro- Decorations, Evalyn and Bill Martin- Signature Drink and Publicity, Jeff Rauh and Katy Cornell- Placemats, Rebecca Mindy- Volunteers, Alicia Braatz- Finance , Lisa Volm- Logo and Signage, Katie Schultz and Amy Van Ells- Auction Apparel, Todd and MarySue Larsen- AV.  Thank you to all the parents, grandparents, teachers and friends of SMV who donated money, items or made bids. When the final amount comes in, we will be sure to let you know.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. In the pastoral effort to respond to the need for protection of children and youth, the Archdiocese of Milwaukee has enhanced its Safeguarding All God's Family program and developed additional curriculum for all children and youth.  As part of this program, all children and youth in grades K3 though 12 in school and faith formation programs will be given additional information on how to protect themselves and became aware of their surroundings.

Your child's class will be discussing this information during the month of April.
Please click on the link for more resources. If you have any questions please feel free to contact your child's classroom teacher.

A huge thank you to the many volunteers who helped to make the Auction a success. We could not have done it without everyone's support and the tireless work of Katie Carnell & Sue Olbrantz. Many, many thanks

A huge shout out to all the volunteers that helped with our school auction this past weekend.  There are so many names to list, it would be impossible to accurately capture them all!  What a testament to the wonderful, helpful families at our school!  The event would not have been possible without so many helping hands.

We would like to highlight the decorating committee.  All those that attended saw how beautifully the gym was decorated.  Once again this year, Mr. Newman's vision beautifully transformed the gym.  Mr. Newman's decorating committee included:  Catherine Antczak, Sherryl Ellis, Stephanie Mayer, Melissa Borino, Heather Mueller, Katy Cornell, Amy Scheidt, Maren Kleinmann, Annette Walters, Mia Giampietro, Annette Sobczak, Patty Steigerwald, Erin Lampe, Annie Bolger, Courtney Warren, Elizabeth Hagman, Alicia Braatz, Katie Costigan, Mrs. Dries and Mr. Fix-It.  These parents gave many hours to help transport us to our favorite supper club.  Thank you parents for all your hard work and dedication to our school!

And with that you will find a few things that are Positively SMV!
