Principal Notes                                                September 6, 2018

Dear Families,

We are in full swing here at school. The students are all settled in and a routine is in place. I want to give a big welcome to our K3 students who started this week.  We are glad to have them with us.

Next Wednesday is our first Spirit Day.  Students can wear anything that has SMV on it or anything that is blue and gold (yellow).Uniforms may be worn in lieu of spirit wear. Neat, clean, and untorn jeans, sweatpants, wind pants, and sweatshirts may be worn.   Shorts need to be uniform shorts or shorts that are knee-length.
We also will be collecting food again this year on our Spirit Wear day for the Congregation of the Great Spirit Food Pantry.  This month they are asking for chunky soup. Please think about sending a can or two of soup to help them out.

Save the date!  Sunday, September 16th, from noon-2pm is  the annual St. Mary's Visitation Parish Picnic. This is sponsored by St. Mary's Visitation Home and School in appreciation to the parish for their support. Lunch is free, please come and join us.

If you are a new family, you are invited to our New Parent Social. Please join us in the school atrium on Tuesday, September 18th at 6:30.  We would love to get to know you.

Saturday, October 20th, is the Catholic Schools Walk for Education at Mount Mary University. If you haven't signed up yet, you need to register by Tuesday, September 19th, to receive your free t-shirt.  Remember that 100% of the pledge money you raise stays as St. Mary's. Go to   www.catholicschoolswalk.org  to register under the St.Mary's Visitation Team. Whether you donate or not, we would love for you to walk with us! Please bring them and put them in the box in the atrium.

If you have any questions or concerns, please give me a call.  I am happy to help.

Have a wonderful week.

Faithfully,
Mrs. Mary Tretow
Principal

Office Notes
Forms
We are asking that ALL parents, who have not done so yet, fill out the forms as soon as possible.
Please click on the SMV Forms on the left side under Permanent links.  This is necessary for we use these forms for emergency contact information.  This is something that needs to be done at a computer and not on your cell phone.  If you can't do it from your home, please stop in at the school office and we can help.

Immunization Records
The Archdiocese and the State of Wisconsin requires that we have on file an immunization form for each child.  We are required to do reports to the Arch and the State on how many students are in compliance. There is a box to check if you chose not to have your child immunized. We still need to have the form.

School Library Volunteers
The library schedule is complete and can be viewed as a link in this Virtual Backpack. If you would like to volunteer, please e-mail Ms. Benson with the days and times that interest you. Example: (The second  Friday  of each month at  9:30 a.m. ) Your choice will be confirmed in the next few days.

Positively
 SMV

This school year, the parish bulletin will again highlight a St. Mary's student each week. Brief interview style responses and a photo of the student will be included in the SMV Student Spotlight. This is a great opportunity to showcase the wonderful students enrolled in our school, and our parishioners always enjoy learning more about our school through the eyes of our students. Please complete this form with your child's responses. Thank you for sharing the SMV spirit with our parish community!

And with that you will find a few things that are Positively SMV!
