St. Francis Day
We celebrated the Feast of St. Francis this past Sunday. This year's pet blessings included all creatures great and small: dogs, cats, rats, and a snake!

Sung Compline
October 14, 2018
7:00 p.m.
Compline is the final prayer service of the day in the Church's ancient prayer cycle that marks the hours of the day. This month's service will be sung by a choir of 18 treble singers (sopranos and altos). It last will last about 25 minutes, and provides a peaceful way to end the weekend in contemplation and beauty. After the service, all are invited to Johnny's Tavern at 13th and Grand for food, drink, and discussion.
Donations Needed: Downtown Outreach
Downtown Outreach (DTO) provides hunger relief to our neighboring community, providing a hot meal in the parish hall and distributing bags of groceries from the food pantry in the parish basement two Saturdays per month. Like many pantries, there has been an increase in the number of people asking for help. You are invited to donate non-perishable items to support those in need in downtown Kansas City!

There is a basket by the baptismal font in the back of the church to collect these items.

Suggested items are:
  • Boxed dinner meals (rice, Hamburger Helper, etc....not mac and cheese)
  • Canned meats (tuna, chicken)
  • Breakfast items (jams, peanut butter, cereal, boxed milk, bars)
  • Juice (large or individual servings)
  • Sweets (cookies, candy)
  • Hygiene products (feminine products, body and laundry soap)

Thank you in advance for your generosity!
Feast of St. Luke the Evangelist
Wednesday, October 17

St. Mary's parish was originally founded as St. Luke's parish, and so we will commemorate our proto-patron with a Solemn High Mass with the opportunity for healing prayers and anointing. The Kansas City-area deanery has been invited as well.
Regional Confirmation
Saturday, October 20th at 2:00pm
Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral

St. Mary's has five parishioners who will be received or confirmed: Erika Darling, Michael Ritzel, Chad Hunter, Juliann Hunter, and Frankie Franklin.   Please consider attending to show your support for them as they reaffirm their baptismal faith in Christ!
Songflower Chorale: Choral Evensong
On Sunday October 21, 2018 at 5:00 pm, the Songflower Chorale will sing Choral Evensong at St. Mary's. The service will include a complete freshly-composed liturgical setting by Songflower’s artistic director, Dr. Geoffrey Wilcken. The service is free and open to the public; donations are always welcome and accepted.
Sponsoring the altar flowers is a beautiful way to honor loved ones. Flowers are often given to mark special life events such as birth and birthdays; anniversary of a wedding, baptism, confirmation; the memory of a loved one; or as a thanksgiving for life’s blessings. Flowers are not a budgeted item in our church operations. The only funds available for use by this ministry are the funds you donate. You are invited to take part in this ministry!

If you'd like to sponsor altar flowers, click here for more information. In addition to the average Sunday,
