This Sunday: Blessing of Throats
in honor of St. Blaise
St. Blaise's Feast day is on February 3rd. This Sunday, Father Justin will bless throats during the 9am service in honor of St. Blaise. A 4th century Saint, Blaise is known for healing people with ailments of the throat and other infirmities of the body. This healing prayer is traditionally done by a Priest with two candles.
St. Blaise was also known to cure sicknesses of animals, many of whom were known to come to the Saint for healing as depicted in the icon.
We are happy to provide this tradition at St. Mary's Parish!

Join Our New Tasks Forces!
Two new Task Forces are being organized as part of our Church Renewal Program.
A Greeters Task Force will be charged with making sure all Visitors at Worship and Events of the Church are greeted, welcomed and introduced to others. Quite often visitors join us every month on various occasions, and we want them to know we appreciate them. The Task Force is open to all who would love to look for and greet visitors. Find out a little about them, tell them about us, accompany them to Coffee Hour and introduce them to others. Hopefully if they return for another visit they will be recognized and further introduce them to our members.
The first meeting will be held on Feb 12th at 7 pm, all are welcome to join!
| |
A Marketing Task Force will be charged with handling all the Newspaper and Community communications such as articles, flyers and pictures. They can also assist with the Website, Facebook, App and social media. If you have skills in communications, writing, photography, social media or making presentations on behalf of the congregation this is a great task force to join. If you would like to write thank you letters or send a letter to someone who is new in town and invite them to St. Mary’s, that would be great. Not everyone has to do everything, you can pick out a project that works for you.
The first meeting will be on Feb 13th at 7 pm. All are welcome to join.
