Staying Connected as a Faith Community

Thank You, Thank You

Alleluia. Christ is Risen!
The Lord is Risen, indeed! Alleluia!

As we begin our celebration of Easter, and immerse ourselves in this season of hope and new life, we pause to give thanks for all who make our Lent and Holy Week services special and meaningful. For our worship partners: Concordia, Emanuel and Faith Lutheran Churches for continuing our tradition of sharing Holy Week together. While there were many adjustments, we were blessed with beautiful music featuring Dr. Jun Lee of Emanuel, John Anderson, organist with Concordia, Rob McCrann, minister of music with Faith, our pianist Kelly Sharp, plus the combined choir directed by Dr. Lee and the many cantors. Thank you to Pastor Marschhausen, Pastor Kershner, Mark Winzler, Deacon Fedorchak, and Ms. Beth Allen, lay leader with Faith. Our music and lay preachers, from three of the four congregations, during Wednesdays in Lent were wonderful. Thank you to everyone who submitted photos of servant ministry for Maundy Thursday, and of your crosses at home and locally for Good Friday. There were close to 150 cross photos in the "veneration of the cross" presentation!

In addition to our shared services on zoom, we also live-streamed the Blessing of the Palms, recorded the Easter Vigil service of light, and recorded our Holy Eucharist (spiritual communion) service that premieres Sundays at 7:30 am. Thank you to our tech team, readers, those who prepared the Altar and the flowers, and tended the fire. We were delighted to record live music offered by Rob McCrann and Kelly Sharp for the Easter Day service. Thank you to Kelly Sharp, Wendy Donagher, and Nancy Lynn Knauff for recording Easter hymns. We will be blessed by this gift of music throughout the Easter season. Thank you for those assisting with the distribution of Communion, the "Communion Cups" consecrated at the Altar at St. Mary's and shared in a "to-go" fashion in the parking lot, beginning Easter Sunday.

Thank you to the wardens, officers, and vestry for leading the parish through this time of turmoil. Covid has brought upon its own challenges, on top of many anxieties we already had and the injustices that we are turning to face in this time. Thank you to all the prayer warriors who have supported the parish leadership and all who have been willing to "try on" new things. Thank you for sharing disappointments, like the new fire recording I could not get into the zoom service! Thank you for having patience when technology isn't working the way we thought it could or would, like on zoom Easter morning.

My personal motto and mantra has been "staying safe, keeping connected" and this Easter season I have charged myself with "seeing new life". It is there for us to see when we open our eyes. When we let go of how we wish things to go. When we accept realities and ask what God is inviting us to notice. I am thankful we have eyes to see, collectively, what we cannot see alone. I am thankful for our ever-expanding circle of community. I can even say I am thankful for the surprises and I expect God has more surprises in store for us, when we have our eyes wide open.

Thank you for all the blessings of this season and for all the gifts you have shared: your humor, generosity, kindness, and love; for your prayers, for "showing up", and for your willingness to make room for God in this holy and blessed season of new birth and new hope.

May we live into our calling to be Easter people, filled with hope and joy,
Ann

Lenten Outreach Campaign Success
Thanks to all who donated to our Undie Sunday, Wall Out Hunger and Gift Card collection over these past weeks. We collected 41 gift cards totalling $1,075 for Bennet Academy and 4 car loads of undies, food and toiletries which went to MACC! Both organizations were extremely grateful and appreciative of our donation!
Re-Opening Task Force Begins

The Wardens are pleased to announce that the St. Mary's Re-Opening Task Force will be chaired by Megan Sargent Dubois. Thank you to those who have volunteered to serve on this task force. A group of eight parishioners will begin meeting next week. When they are ready, they will make recommendations to the vestry and propose a plan for the re-opening St. Mary's for in-person worship and for use by other groups. Please keep this task force and their work in your prayers.
