Epiphany House Blessing
Starting today you can pick up your blessed chalk from the blue bin on the office porch for our Jan. 3 Epiphany celebration. We will use it to bless our homes for the New Year (everything you need is in the bag- one per household please)
This short liturgy is a way of marking our homes, at the front or main entrance, with sacred signs and symbols as we ask God's blessing upon those who live, work, or visit throughout the coming year. In Exodus, the Israelites marked their doors with blood so that the Lord would pass over their homes; in this service, we mark our doors with chalk as a sign that we have invited God's presence and blessing into our homes.
The initials of the legendary names of the Magi - Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar - are framed by the numbers of the New Year in this way: 20 + C M B + 21. Tradition also says the initials CMB stand for the Latin for Christie, Mansionem Benedica, which means “Christ, bless this house.”

While we miss gathering in-person at Silk City Coffee, we do love seeing each other and connecting on zoom. You can still "pop in" as if you're strolling on Main Street and stay as long or short as you want. We're on zoom from 1-2 pm- call in from home or use a smart device to 'swing by'.
