This weekend we celebrate the Eighth Sunday after Pentecost. The theme of our worship will be "Blessed in Christ"  based on Ephesians 1:3-14.

PARADES - St. Matthew has participated in the Mundelein Community Independence Day Parade and the Hawthorn Woods Fourth of July Parade. Our float received Second Place for decorated floats in the Mundelein Parade! Good job Jennifer A., Darlene M., Carol H. and all those who decorated and walked in the parades! We have one more parade - the Alpine Days Parade on July 22 in Lake Zurich . If you are interested in riding on the float or walking along side, contact the church office. We especially need small children to ride the float!

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 2018 - 7:00pm
On Saturday, September 1 st , join Pastor Blonski and his singing group “The Master’s Voice”, while they sing the National Anthem at the Chicago Dogs game. Come out and watch the Chicago Dogs vs. the Lincoln Saltdogs, and stay after the game and watch a great firework show. St. Matthew has a block of 50 seats reserved. Tickets are only $15.00 each and $3.00 for parking. There is a sign-up sheet on the church office counter. Please sign-up ASAP before all the tickets are gone.
FACILITY REQUEST   Just a friendly note to ask all groups and organizations to please fill out a facility request for your activities. This information assists us in the set up, programming of the electronic doors and the safety of all involved.
CHRISTIAN OUTREACH OF LUTHERANS (COOL) -  A food pantry for some of the neediest families in Lake County. Please bring a can of food/box of cereal with you when you worship and place them in Luther Hall. Thanks for helping those in need. July food item: peanut butter.
SHARING THE JOY - Are you or somebody you know in need of meals? Sharing the Joy ministry of St. Matthew would like to help. Please contact the church office to set up meal deliveries.

The Sharing of Joy Ministry of St. Matthew had their first family activity this past weekend. 40 parents and children enjoyed a fun night of pizza, ice cream and a fun movie, all while making blankets for children. A total of 31 blankets were finished and will go to the Love Inc. project “Pillow and a Prayer”. This special mission provides a bed, pillow, and blanket to children in need in Lake County.

FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN - Make a difference in the life of a starving child. It just takes two hours! Come and support a St. Matthew event at Feed My Starving Children in Libertyville, on Saturday, July 21 @ 8:45am-11:00am
This great volunteer opportunity has been organized by St. Matthew member, Ean Norenberg. 
There are 90 spots open for this event. Sign-up sheet is on the church office counter. 
Please sign up by July 15th.
2020 EUROPEAN TRIP & OBERAMMERGAU is an 11 Day Classic Classic European Tour (September 20-30, 2020) which will include Budapest, Bratislava, Prague, Nurnberg, Rothenburg, Heidleberg, a Rhine River Cruise, the Neuschwanstein Castle and culminating in Oberammergau for the 2020 production of the Passion Play.
The Passion Play is produced by the citizens of the Village of Oberammergau every ten years in thanksgiving to the Lord for keeping the Black Plague away from them ever since 1634. See Pastor Kinne for more information or to sign up for the trip.

THURSDAY MORNING LADIES BIBLE STUDY MEETS this Thursday (7/12). Current study is Believing in Jesus: A Journey Through the Book of Acts.

DEVOTIONAL RESOURCES Taking Faith Home is available each week in the service folder and as an attachment with the Weekly e-News.  In My Father’s Footsteps is provided by Pastor Blonski and is a bi-weekly devotion available via email here . Monday Bible Study Leader Tim Hetzner also offers a daily devotional via email here .
NATIONAL LUTHERAN YOUTH GATHERING - Held every 3 years since 1980, the LCMS Youth Gathering provides thousands of youth and adults the opportunity to come together as a community of God’€s people to learn more about Jesus Christ, the Christian faith and their Lutheran identity. The next Gathering will be held on July 11-15, 2019 in Minneapolis, MN. During the five days of the Gathering, youth spend time together in God’s word, worship, service, and fellowship with others from across the synod.
If you - or your youth - is interested in going and will be 14 years old at the time of the Gathering OR entering his or her ninth grade year at the time of the Gathering - sign up in Luther Hall or contact Pastor Blonski.
SUNDAY NIGHT LIVE - Does not meet this week nor on July 29. We will have SNL on July 22 and then again on August 5!

The 2 nd Annual Golf Outing “FORE” the Kids event will be held on Sunday, July 29 at Renwood Golf Course in Round Lake Beach. Donations of goods and services for Raffle baskets and Hole Sponsorships are now being accepted. Golfer registration and sponsorship forms are available in the school office.
