Please prayerfully consider how you may be able to assist us this year for VBS!
  • Everlasting Life Ministry and Pastor Daniel Update - (See more photos HERE.) As the new year started at Everlasting Life Ministry in India, Pastor Daniel Masih sat before God and prayed for guidance for the year to come. The Lord led him to make his focus the nearby villages and house churches. Everlasting Life is ministering in 6 states in India, including 15 districts in the Punjab state, with 10 pastors being mentored by Pastor Daniel and ministering to many people throughout Northern India and beyond. This year, they are focusing on building and supporting the house churches. This includes doing three house meetings every day. House meetings are incredibly moving, with passionate worship, prayer, and preaching.
  • Pastor Daniel’s family leads Sunday worship at 3 different church locations. Ministry is growing with many new opportunities to strengthen the church family and to reach many more people. Some of the new areas of ministry include a women’s group, a weekly prayer chain meeting (7am-7pm), a weekly fasting prayer meeting, Sunday School for the children, and many more. While people worship in the various locations, the whole church comes together for a monthly worship celebration, which includes Holy Communion and baptisms. In 2021, 3 people have been baptized so far, with another 8 being baptized this month.
  • Everlasting Life is currently constructing a new church building in Hoshiarpur and are looking forward to beginning the construction on the land recently purchased adjacent to the home church in Dasuya.
  • God is moving in powerful ways in India and your financial support and prayers will help their mission in Northern India.
  • Wixom Worship Leader and Technology Coordinator - The Executive Board approved the hiring of a full-time Wixom Worship position. The ministry description has been updated and re-titled as “Wixom Worship Leader and Technology Coordinator". The ministry description and employment application are available HERE or at the Welcome Centers at both the Walled Lake and Wixom campuses. Please submit applications to the church office churchoffice@st-matthew.org or to the office at either campus.

  • Vice President
  • Secretary
  • School Board Chair
  • 3 Members of Foundation Ministry

  • Building Safety School has started and our buildings still remain closed for walk-in visitors during the week. IMPORTANT: Anyone wishing to meet with a staff member should contact that staff member directly or the church office to schedule a time to enter and meet. Proper entrance protocols will be adhered to at that time (including temperature taken, exposure evaluated, etc.). Thank you for your patience as we work very hard to keep everyone safe!
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35 (NIV)

COVID WON'T STOP EASTER!

Join Us March 20th for Donuts with Pastors in
Back Parking Lot!

I distinctly remember dozing off on the couch the night of March 12, 2020, and waking up around 11:00 p.m. to see Governor Whitmer on the television announcing that all Michigan schools would be closed starting March 16, 2020. As a staff, we had been preparing for an online virtual format in the event that it was going to be necessary, but now it was "Go Time" to quickly implement all of those strategies and plans.

In my head, I honestly thought we would be back to school in approximately two weeks as I was waving "good bye" to everyone during our end of the day dismissal process on March 13th. It wasn't until someone yelled, "Have A Happy Easter", which wasn't occurring until April 12th, that the reality hit me that this closure might take longer than I thought, and I instantly burst into tears as I realized the potential length of this good bye.

Boy, did I ever misjudge the length of that initial shutdown!

As we are approaching the one year anniversary of the initial COVID shutdown, our minds may instantly reflect upon precious people that we have lost or activities that needed to stop or change as a result of this year's pandemic. However, COVID can't and won't stop Easter! Jesus is still victorious and remains on His throne in Heaven!

As a result, we are planning a COVID friendly "Resurrection Celebration"! Please join us on Saturday, March 20 at 9:00 a.m. in the back parking lot for "Donuts With Pastors: The Easter Edition!" During this event, while families remain safely in their cars, an Easter themed celebration will include crafts, games, and stories shared by our St. Matthew Ministry Team. Back by popular demand - everyone will receive a bag of fresh hot donuts from the Detroit Mini Food Truck!

To sign up for this delicious event, please click HERE.

Scripture promises in Hebrews 13:8 that "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday as today and tomorrow." Our daily circumstances and situations may change, but nothing will stop or change our God!

In His Love,

Reminders
Did you miss it?
If you missed our previous eNews, here are a few reminders:

  • St. Matthew's 75th Anniversary Recognition is coming! As we progress to St Matthew's 75th Anniversary in 2023, we'd like to share some thoughts from 1951! We are still looking for any pictures, most likely from your parents or grandparents, from our early beginnings! Feel free to email those to dbond1688@gmail.com or drop them off at my church mailbox!
  • St. Paul Pontiac Pantry Needs - The pandemic has created the opportunity to think differently in how we can meet the needs of people in our community. One of the regular missions that St. Matthew supports is St. Paul Pontiac, which has a pantry to help those in the Pontiac area. St. Paul has created and shared their pantry needs with us through an Amazon Wish List HERE, which will allow you to see what their current needs are, and purchase them directly. Please consider supporting St. Paul during this season! Contact the St. Paul church office if you have any questions - stpauloffice1133@gmail.com .
  • Communications Requests As we continue to modify our Communications tools to serve our St. Matthew community better (eNews, website, etc.), please connect with the appropriate Ministry Leader to request to have information communicated out. They will then ensure that information is directed to the appropriate channels for communication. The Messenger on the website is no longer an effective communication tool. Please contact Ministry Leaders directly to discuss your needs. Thank you for your patience as we create a more effective process for Communications Requests, and the tools to make it happen.
