From this Sunday's readings:
11 Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me; *
O Lord, be my helper."
12 You have turned my wailing into dancing; *
you have put off my sack-cloth and clothed me with joy.
13 Therefore my heart sings to you without ceasing; *
O Lord my God, I will give you thanks for ever.
Psalm 30:11-13

Rector's Corner: July Happenings
I'm very excited about several upcoming events at St. Matthew's next week. Please join the community for the parish picnic in the parish hall this Sunday, July 6, following the 10:30 service. The fellowship committee will provide burgers, hot dogs, and drinks, so everyone is asked to bring a side dish or dessert. The picnic is a great way to wrap up the Fourth of July weekend as summer continues. Everyone is welcome to join us for a meal!
I am also excited about the start of Vacation Bible School (VBS) on Monday morning. VBS is a wonderful tradition that gives children a chance to experience community and learn about the Bible, primarily through our Episcopal perspective. The children who attend will sing, play, create, laugh, sweat, and make memories. I love this week because it's another opportunity for us, as a community that follows Jesus, to share the Gospel with young people. VBS is not only a fantastic time, but also a way for children to learn about Jesus in a safe and welcoming environment. VBS is a ministry that reaches many in our community, offering a chance to welcome new people to the campus.
Please remember to keep the volunteers (adults and youth) and the participating children in your prayers as we learn about God through fun and play. I want to thank everyone, especially Terri Hurst, for all the work that will be displayed and the love that will be shown to the children attending next week. Everyone is invited to join the closing program on Friday at noon in the church.
God has blessed us with a beautiful campus, where we can share meals and the love of God through Jesus with our children. Let's celebrate over the next week and discover the wonderful ways we will experience God at St. Matthew's.
See you on Sunday and next week!
Peace,
Fr. Tim

Going on Vacation? Don't forget to take Flat St. Matt with you this summer!
Not going on vacation this summer? No problem! Flat Matt loves to meet people. Who is your neighbor? Who’s the grocery clerk at your supermarket, or friends & family at the park, or the pool? And your pets—don’t forget them!
Who will he meet, or what will he be up to this summer with you? YOU might be the one to win a coveted Matty Award on St. Matthew's Day in September, so take up the challenge, and send your best pics to the church office, and watch for them on the bulletin board or in the newsletter this summer. Don’t have a Flat Matt? Speak to an usher, or check in the church office during the week.
