Feature Photo of the Week:
THIS Sunday is Pentecost!
SINGLE SERVICE AT 10:00 A.M.
| Don't forget to wear RED THIS SUNDAY for Pentecost: ONE SERVICE at 10:00 AM. Wearing red on Pentecost symbolizes the fire of the Holy Spirit. It represents the burning fire of God’s love and the tongues of fire that descended upon the apostles, marking the birth of the Church. | |
Rector's Corner: Pentecost!
We will conclude the Easter season with the Day of Pentecost this Sunday. This major feast day is the Church's celebration of the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples after Jesus' ascension, as recorded in the Acts of the Apostles. We will have a special service on Sunday morning at 10:00. Please wear red, the color associated with the feast day, which symbolizes the Holy Spirit and the "tongues of fire" that rested on the disciples. We will also baptize two members of the community and join with God in the new things that God is doing among them, as well as the St. Matthew's Community. Sunday promises to be a celebratory day for many reasons.
One of the many things I love about the Day of Pentecost is how St. Matthew's mirrors the early Church. There is excitement, hope, wonder, curiosity, and a profound awareness of the Holy Spirit's movement taking place in our community. As we worship and welcome the newly baptized this Sunday, let us remember that we are the Church that trusts God is with us and helps us discern what God is calling us to do, both in the short term and for the future.
I look forward to seeing how the Holy Spirit will move throughout our worship service on Sunday and how St. Matthew's will experience its presence, discovering, both deeply and intimately, what God is calling us to do, both on and off our campus in Snellville. I'll see you all at Church!
Blessings,
Fr. Tim

URGENT NEED: Be an ANGEL!
It's Spring, and summer is coming. Our beautiful gardens are coming back to life, and to keep them beautiful and thriving through the year it takes WATER. Our St. Matt's Garden Guild needs garden Angels to help with that task over the next few months to care for them, and to help with other garden care and maintenance (weeding, etc.). Can you spare 30 min or so on a regular basis to help? There will be a signup sheet on the Building and Grounds bulletin board in the main hallway. Pick an area you can help care for and do the watering on your schedule. Contact Janis Williams for more information. It takes a village, and as we know, It's the People!

He's Back!
Do you have Flat St. Matt hiding in a drawer or cabinet from last year? It's time to bring him out into the light--Flat Matt wants to go traveling again this summer.
Can't find him? We'll have more Flat Matts available starting this Sunday. Ask an usher for one for your household and snap some photos of him on his adventures this summer.
Challenge: Flat Matt gets bored, so help him find unique, funny or interesting places to be seen. He's met cows in Alabama, been almost swallowed by an alligator in the Okefenokee, met a US President, and visited Vegas.
Not going on vacation this summer? No problem! Flat Matt loves to meet people. Who is your neighbor? Who’s the grocery clerk at your supermarket, or friends & family at the park, or the pool? And your pets—don’t forget them!
So who will he meet, or what will he be up to this summer with you? YOU might be the one to win a coveted Matty Award on St. Matthew's Day in September, so take up the challenge, and send your best pics to the church office, and watch for them on the bulletin board or in the newsletter this summer. Don’t have a Flat Matt? Speak to an usher, or check in the church office during the week.
