Parish Workday Helpers Last Sat, March 8

St. Matt's had help from several members of the Brookwood Beta Club last Saturday at the Spring Parish Workday. Pictured above are four members who helped clean out some cabinets and a closet in the parish office. Other club members helped parish members in the classrooms and storage areas in the undercroft and worked in the gardens. About 25-30 parish members worked inside and out, washing windows, reorganizing, cleaning and working in the kitchen, and many other tasks around campus. Thanks to everyone who helped out, and to the Brotherhood for providing lunch. It's the People!

Children's Choir practice

after the 10:30 service

in the choir room

(education wing)

Please join us for Children’s Choir every Sunday in the choir room after the 10:30 service from 12:00 - 12:45 for lots of fun and music. We accept young singers, ages 4 through 3rd grade. It’s not too late to join in the fun! The choir will be sharing several more performances with the congregation before the end of the school year. Questions can be directed to Deb Herron or Karen Whitehead.

Lenten Outreach

For Lent the Outreach Committee is collecting needed items for the Church of the Common Ground, a ministry of the Diocese among the homeless population in downtown Atlanta.

We are collecting the following:

-Individual water flavor packets for single serve bottles

-belVita Breakfast Biscuits

-Coffee-mate Non-Dairy Powdered Creamer

-Sugar

-or anything else from their Amazon wish list (see link below)

You may place items in the bin marked Donations for CCG in the main hallway near the Co-Op barrels.

If you prefer to send items direct through Amazon, please click here for the CCG Wish List. Thank you!

For more information about Church of the Common Ground, click here.

MARCH CO-OP FOOD DRIVE-Our designated item for March is jars of pasta sauce (Ragu, Bertolli, etc) for the Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministries. Due to the high price of groceries, the number of families needing assistance has increased as many of these families are now living paycheck to paycheck. Currently they are servicing an average of 300 families a week. Donations of all canned or boxed foods, as well as personal care items, are always welcome and needed.

Contact: Cheryl Wheeler or Dottie Merrifield if you have any questions.

For more information about the SE Gwinnett Co-Op or to volunteer, please visit their website.

Thank you for your continued support in helping the Co-Op feed those in need.

Around St. Matt's

The church car magnets are back! We now have car magnets, and stickers (for those with cars that will not take a magnet, or for notebooks, cups and etc.). The magnets and stickers depict our wonderful stained glass window. These magnets and stickers serve as a wonderful community reminder of our active church. They are available for $2 each in the office or see Susan Carson, Karen Wilson or Diane Eberhart if you would like one. (Please note, exact change is appreciated, as we do not keep cash in the office).

Potluck Dinner and a Movie

The Chosen, Season 4 resumes this Tuesday, March 18

Cafe Theology is reading the book The Bible With and Without Jesus, by Amy-Jill Levine and Mark Zve Brettler. The authors offer a guided tour of the most popular Hebrew Bible passages quoted in the New Testament illustrating what the texts meant in their original contexts and how Jews and Christians, over time, understood those same texts. Meets the 1st and 3rd Sat/month from 10-11:30 a.m. am in the church library. All are welcome. It is not necessary to have read these books to just drop in and listen.
