So much is going on around here as we near the end of our first semester, and there is a lot of information in this edition of News and Notes, especially Catholic Schools Week fun; and our virtual gala. Please read it through carefully so you don’t miss out!

We are already gearing up for next year, so please register as soon as possible. We need to know how many new students we can accept as we plan staffing, space use, etc. Tell your friends, we will be full, so don’t delay registration. 

Our gala committee is preparing a wonderful virtual celebration, that includes goodies to enjoy at home during the presentation including dinner from Charlie’s, a crowler of beer from Boathouse Brothers Brewery, Crewwe’s root beer and more! Get your ticket (information in News and Notes below), get cozy with your bash in a bag, and see you there on Saturday, Feb. 13!

Some current happenings around school: We are keeping Ms. Baima busy working with students and teachers to make sure we are meeting individual learning needs. We have also added an extra period of middle school math by freeing up Mrs. Roseen (Mrs. Hinker will take over her religion class to allow this). We have a wide range of math abilities in our middle school, and we want to keep everyone challenged appropriately. This year our kids are feeling the stress we all have been experiencing, and they need some extra TLC. Please reach out if you need any resources or assistance. 

Several 8th graders and a couple 7th graders have taken over the morning announcements.. They give a few details about the Saint of the day, celebrate birthdays (and half birthdays) and lead the school in a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. This month we have been praying the prayer of St. Francis for peace in our community, country and world.

Decision Tree Updates
We have received a new decision tree from the MDH which requires us to change our protocols for quarantining when a member of a household tests positive for COVID-19. The new guidelines were put in place because of confusion about quarantine vs. isolation.

Quarantining is staying home and away from others because you may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus. Isolating is completely avoiding close contact with others because you have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

The new decision tree is attached, but basically it deals with these scenarios for close contact with COVID-19:

Were you exposed to COVID because you live with someone who has COVID? 
Yes: Quarantine for 14 days (with COVID positive individual isolating)

If you were exposed outside your household ask:
Will you test after 5 days?
If yes, return with negative result and no symptoms on day 8.
If no, return after 10 days if no symptoms develop.

Catholic Schools Week is right around the corner and we are looking forward to celebrating with you!

We will be kicking off Catholic Schools Week at all of the Masses the weekend of January 30th. We have one volunteer opening remaining to help us lead Mass.
 PLEASE SIGN UP HERE.

All students should wear their school uniform to Mass. Teachers will be prepared to hand them an out-of-uniform pass in the Narthex after Mass.

We are looking forward to celebrating the rich traditions and the incredible value of Catholic education with all of you!

FREE School Lunch for ALL Students!
We recently learned that St. Michael families are eligible for free school lunch! Everyone may order lunch at no charge at least through April 30, 2021. This will be retroactive to October 1st, and Darlene Casey is working on reimbursing families for single lunches and single milks purchased in October and November. These will appear as credits in TADS accounts.

If you have not participated in school lunch before, please watch for the weekly email for ordering. You must order the lunch to participate in this federally funded program. Only single entrees with one milk are covered, extras must be purchased.
Wednesday Early Release Days

Wednesday Early Dismissal Care & Homework Time - March 2021

Please let us know if your child(ren) will need Wednesday Early Dismissal Care (12:15 - 2:15) in March by completing this form as soon as possible, and no later than Friday February 15, 2021. We are offering this for families who do not have other options available for Wednesday afternoons. If you are able to have your child come home at 12:15, please do so, as the teachers are finding the Wednesday afternoon planning especially necessary this year.

If you are picking up your child before 2:15, we ask that you call the office so that one of our staff members can bring your child safely to their car line pickup zone.

In order to ensure proper staffing and the safety of all students we request no late enrollment.

Preparing for Tax Season?
As we enter tax-filing season, you can access your "Household Paid Tuition Tax Report" under the Billing tab in TADS. This report provides a breakdown of the payments made during a specific tax year. Below are step-by-step instructions to locate the report:

Step 1: Log into your TADS user account.

Step 2: Click on the "Billing" tab.

Step 3: Click on "Household Paid Tuition Tax Report" on the left side of the screen. 

Step 4: Complete the prompt to fill in the correct tax year and click "Submit."

Step 5: Once submitted, a PDF will be produced that outlines all payments made that year. This can be downloaded and printed as needed.
