Dear St. Michael Families,
The Marathon buzz is building this week! The students who met the first week $50 goal received out of uniform passes, and tomorrow anyone who has $100 in total pledges will spin the prize wheel next week. Our classroom prizes went to the top two classes in K-2: Mrs. Gillham’s second graders and Miss Buesgen’s kindergarten class; in grades 3-5: Mrs. Vochoska’s fourth graders, and Mr. Amundson’s fourth graders; and in middle school Mrs. Disher’s 6th graders and Mrs. Shimek’s seventh graders. Congratulations to these 6 classes who each received a Gatorade of their choice!
The top classes in pledges brought in this week will be awarded next Tuesday with an ice cream party. The middle school kids are working toward a shared goal of $18,500, and will earn a new sweatshirt they can wear as part of their uniform if they reach it. AND if we reach our school goal everyone will get an out of uniform day every Friday for the rest of the school year, with Spirit Wear Fridays!
Our fabulous Marathon committee has come up with some great ideas to celebrate while still keeping each other safe. We are grateful to them and to our sponsors: Jason Walgrave Realty, Above All Flooring; Dr. Carlson and Belland Family Dentistry; and Babcock and Morgan Family Dental. This is such a generous community and we so appreciate all your support, whether financial, or through volunteering, or keeping our success in your prayers!
I was out on the playground afterschool during Adventures Plus the other day, and a St. Michael’s dad told me that when his daughters came home from school on the first day, it was like a switch had been flipped and they had light in their eyes again! That is why we are here! Our kids need to be here (and we really love having them here too), we are grateful for every day this school year, and are taking nothing for granted. Our teachers have been knocking it out of the park during this challenging start. If you have a story or experience to share about these first weeks of school, I would love to hear it.
I hope you had a chance to take part in the K-5 virtual curriculum night on Tuesday. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if questions came up afterward. Tonight is the Middle School Virtual Curriculum Night, and a video featuring each middle school teacher will be sent out before 6:00 pm so you can view it tonight.
Thank you for sharing your children with us and at the risk of sounding like a broken record--keep on following the safety protocols so we can keep teaching the kids!
Have a wonderful weekend and God bless your families.
