As we enter this sacred season of Advent we are invited into a time of hope, anticipation, and preparation for the coming of Christ.
In the busy life of our school, Advent offers us a moment to pause, breath, and refocus on the amazing gift we have been given in the incarnation. During this time our students will have opportunities for Advent prayer, service projects, and helping those in need. Please consider joining us for some of them.

Al entrar en este sagrado tiempo de Adviento, se
nos invita a un tiempo de esperanza, anticipación
y preparación para la venida de Cristo.
En la ajetreada vida de nuestra escuela, el Adviento
nos ofrece un momento para hacer una pausa,
respirar y reenfocarnos en el maravilloso don que hemos recibido en la encarnación. Durante este tiempo, nuestros estudiantes tendrán oportunidades para la oración de Adviento,
proyectos de servicio y para ayudar a los necesitados. Por favor, considere unirse a

| Message from the Principal | | |
Dear St. Michael-St. Gabriel Families and Friends,
On Sunday we began the Advent season, which is four weeks of preparation leading up to Christ’s birth. This past week we focused specifically on Hope, knowing that a Savior would be brought into our lives, a gift to us from our Lord. During this second week of Advent, which begins this Sunday, we will focus on Faith with a gentle reminder that we are to prepare the path of the One who is to come. During this Christmas season, let us not lose sight that Christ is the true reason for this season. In the third week that follows, we celebrate the Joy that is to come with the birth of Jesus, and finally, in the last week of Advent, we will focus on Peace, which was granted to all with the coming of our Savior.
Next week we celebrate two important feast days in the Catholic Church. The first is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, which we will celebrate on Monday. As a reminder, this is a Holy Day of Obligation for Catholics. The second feast is for Our Lady of Guadalupe, which will be celebrated on Friday, December 12th. Also, be sure to join us next Wednesday, December 10th, for our Christmas concert, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in St. Michael Church.
Study tables for final exams have already begun. Junior high students will have exams, or a final project to complete, in all their classes during the week of December 15th. Please avoid scheduling any appointments or taking your child out of school early these last two weeks. Students need to be prepared for their finals, and being present in school for review is the best way for them to be prepared. For more details on these study tables and exam dates, please see the calendar in this newsletter.
As a reminder, with the colder temperatures now upon us, please be sure your child is sent to school with the proper clothing, especially a jacket for outdoor recess and dismissal. It’s also best if students bring a uniform sweatshirt or sweater to school as well. Some classrooms may be chillier than others when the day begins, and students can always remove these as needed throughout the day.

Queridos Padres y Amigos de San Miguel-San Gabriel,
El domingo comenzamos la temporada de Adviento, que son cuatro semanas de preparación para el nacimiento de Cristo. La semana pasada nos centramos específicamente en la esperanza, sabiendo que un salvador llegaría a nuestras vidas, un regalo de nuestro Señor. Durante esta segunda semana de Adviento, que comienza este domingo, nos centraremos en la fe con un amable recordatorio de que debemos preparar el camino de Aquel que ha de venir. Durante esta temporada navideña, no perdamos de vista a Cristo es la verdadera razón de esta temporada. En la tercera semana que sigue, celebramos la alegría que vendrá con el nacimiento de Jesus y finalmente, en la última semana de Adviento, nos centraremos en la paz, que nos concedió a todos con la llegada de nuestro Salvador.
La semana que viene celebramos dos días festivos importantes en la Iglesia Católica. El primero es la Solemnidad de la Inmaculada Concepción, que celebramos el lunes. Como recordatorio, este es un día santo para los católicos. La segunda fiesta por la que celebraremos es la de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, que se celebrará el viernes 12 de diciembre. Además, asegúrese de unirse a nosotros el próximo miércoles 10 de diciembre para nuestro concierto de Navidad, que comienza a las 6:30 p.m. en la Iglesia San Miguel.
Las mesas de estudio para los exámenes finales ya han comenzado. Los estudiantes de secundaria tendrán exámenes, o un proyecto final para completar, en todas sus clases durante la semana del 15 de diciembre. Evite programar citas o sacar a su hijo de la escuela temprano estas últimas dos semanas. Los estudiantes deben estar preparados para sus exámenes finales, y estar presentes en la escuela para revisarlos de la mejor manera posible para que estén preparados. Como recordatorio, con las temperaturas más frías que se avecinan, asegúrese de enviar a su hijo a la escuela con la ropa adecuada, especialmente una chaqueta para el recreo al aire libre y a la salida. También es mejor que los estudiantes traigan una sudadera o un suéter del uniforme de la escuela. Algunas aulas pueden ser más frías que otras al comienzo del día, y los estudiantes siempre pueden quitarse las según sea necesario durante el día.

8th Grade Trash Bag Sales
It’s that time of year when we know many of you are beginning to bag up your leaves and clean out your gardens. If you are interested in purchasing trash bags from the school office, we are selling rolls for $11 a piece. All proceeds go to fund the eighth grade class trip. An initial order form was sent home with all students this week, if you are interested in purchasing any. We do sell these bags throughout the year as well, so you may consider purchasing some in the spring as well.

In case you haven’t heard, the collection of Box Tops is now moving away from the traditional clipping of Box Tops to now scanning your receipt! The new and improved Box Tops mobile app uses technology to scan your store receipt to find participating products and then instantly adds the Box Tops to our school’s earnings online. Simply go to your app store and download the Box Tops for Education app. Then choose St. Michael School (3352 West 30th Street, Indianapolis). It’s easy and saves you time!
