"Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, his mercy endures forever. " Psalm 118:1
Message from the Principal
Dear St. Michael-St. Gabriel Families and Friends,

As we noted in last week’s newsletter, we will be holding our Parent-Teacher Conferences next Wednesday and Thursday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. On September 16th, all conferences will be held virtually to allow those families who would prefer not to leave their homes to stay home. Conferences held on September 17th will be held in person at school with your child’s homeroom teacher, unless otherwise noted. We will dismiss at 1:30 each of these days to allow time for conferences, and there not be any After Care on these two days. All parents must sign-up in advance for conferences. We ask that only parents and the student attend these conferences to limit the number of persons in our building at a given time. Again, please be sure to bring your mask. We will sanitize between families.

As we discussed last year, we chose to move these conferences to the mid-way point of the quarter to allow parents more insight into their student’s progress for the year, and if needed, to allow time for a student to receive additional help or time to make up missing work. If you have a student in Grades 3-8, teachers may also spend some time reviewing NWEA scores so that you can see where your student stands compared to last year. In reviewing our scores, we see that there are some educational gaps that need to be addressed before we can move on to new material. Again, these will be discussed with your student’s teacher.

As a reminder, students who are learning virtually or in a hybrid model are being held just as accountable for their work online as those students who are learning in person. We have some students who are not attending their Google Meets or who are not submitting work for their teachers. Please be sure to check with your student to ensure that he or she is attending the meetings for the whole time that the class meets and is also submitting work into Google Classroom. Also, please be sure that the daily attendance form that is sent to virtual learners is completed each day.

Lastly, remember that students will not have classes on Friday, September 18th. This includes junior high students. Our teachers will be on retreat that day with Cardinal Ritter High School and St. Anthony. We ask that you keep them in your prayers that day.

God Bless,

Mrs. Ramos

Faith & Service
Prayer for Students

Lord our God,
in your wisdom and love
you surround us with the mysteries of the universe.
Send your Spirit upon these students
and fill them with your wisdom and blessings.
Grant that they may
devote themselves to their studies
and draw ever closer to you,
the source of all knowledge. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

R/. Amen.
Prayer Requests
As a Catholic and Christian community, we believe in the power of prayer, and we certainly want to keep your intentions in our prayers. If there is anyone or anything for which you would like us to pray, please submit your request using this link: forms.gle/uzxArWikcsHtvyuMA. We have various groups throughout the school who will be praying for your intentions each week. Feel free to bookmark this tab and use it regularly.

Pope Francis prayer for protection from Coronavirus

O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign
of salvation and hope.
We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick.
At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain,
with steadfast faith.
You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need.
We are certain that you will provide, so that,
as you did at Cana of Galilee,
joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love,
to conform ourselves to the Father’s will
and to do what Jesus tells us:
He who took our sufferings upon Himself,
and bore our sorrows to bring us,
through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection.
We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God.
Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test
– and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

Beginning Monday until the end of 2020, all full meals in the cafeteria will be 100% free for all students. No need for money on your Mealtime account, and no need for money in hand. Students just select their full lunch, and it’s free, every school day!
Also, please send your students to the cafeteria on Tuesday or Friday at the end of school to pick up meals to take home for the days they are at home eLearning. These meals are also free. Meal pickup is also available every Wednesday between 10:00 am and 3:30 pm.  Pickups may be made by coming in the back entrance of Cardinal Ritter High School closest to the cafeteria. Remember, all meals are free until the end of 2020, so be sure to take advantage of this one!

If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Ramos.

Volunteers Needed for Morning Drop-Off and Afternoon Pick-up

This fall we are in need of dedicated volunteers to help with our morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up, as teachers and staff will have additional duties and supervision roles within the school. Volunteers will be asked to help with directing traffic and guiding cars to the proper locations for drop-off and pick-up. Morning volunteers are needed generally from 7:00-7:50 a.m. Afternoon volunteers are needed from 2:00-3:00 p.m. All volunteers, even those working outside our building, must have completed the Safe and Sacred training required by the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. If you can help, please contact Mrs. Ramos at lramos@indyarchangel.org.
