Stand Firm in Your Faith with Confirmation, Reaffirmation, or Reception!
There’s still time to register for classes. Bishop Greg Brewer will be visiting St. Michael’s for the last time as bishop, and we will be celebrating our 75th year as a worshiping community. If you are interested in participating in this sacramental rite, contact Emilie Joudi Vick at [email protected]

Confirmation preparation sessions will take place on Sundays after the 10:15 church service and on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm. Please choose either Sunday or Wednesday to attend, committing to come once a week. These sessions should last an hour or at most 90 minutes. They will take place in Fordham Hall’s Conference Room or Parlor. Other arrangements may be made on a case-by-case basis.
We will be using the book Being Christian by Rowan Williams as our main study. I will also be tying in topics from Walk in Love by Scott Gunn and Melody W Shobe. Please read Being Christian, if you would like to follow along by chapter. It is not required. CLICK HERE

Opportunities to Serve at St. Michael's

Back to school is right around the corner! - Save The Date!
August 10 is the first day of school for OCPS this year and we are working with the PTSA at College Park Middle School and Lake Silver Elementary to make sure that the first day is a memorable one.

We will again be holding signs and cheering for students on the first day to set the tone for a fun and successful new school year. Our St. Michael's Family will be making signs after each service on Sunday, August 7.

We will have tag board, markers, graphics, glue, and other fun items for sign construction.

On the first day of school we will gather (hopefully with a DJ or music) to create a fun atmosphere.

We will meet at Lake Silver at 7:45am until 8:30(ish).
To sign up CLICK HERE.

Will will then move to College Park Middle School at 8:45.

Back to School Requests - Backpack and Supply Drive
We will also be doing supply drives for our partner schools.
Our partners at the schools have asked for general school supplies instead of specifically listed items. Backpacks are always in high need and almost anything in the school supply section of the store can find a home!

These items are always needed:
  • Crayola Crayons - 24pk
  • Sharpies
  • #2 Pencils (Sharpened)
  • Expo Markers
  • Primary Composition Notebooks
  • Pencil Boxes
  • Highlighters
  • Colored Pencils
  • Rulers
  • Round Tip Scissors
  • Backpacks

Harbor House - A Fresh Start
We are also working with our ministry partners at Harbor House to provide some supplies for the children living in the shelter. These kids often have to leave their current situation with only the clothes on their back, so a new set of school supplies is an expensive proposition.
If you would like to donate to Harbor House, please follow the instructions below. They are requesting either a monetary contribution, using their Amazon list or dropping off items directly at their office on Colonial Drive.

Thank you for all you do, St. Michael's.
-Mike

ST. MICHAEL’S ALMANAC
“DID YOU KNOW?”

Little tidbits for the “doing of life” that might be useful!
DID YOU KNOW – that, if, rummaging through the medicine cabinet, you find some ancient and powerful meds that need to be thrown away? We are told: sink or toilet – nope, garbage – nope. So – where? It used to be that the Fire Department would take them, but Andrew recently found out: no more due to liability issues. Again – so, where? Well, WALGREENS has two drop-off locations that look like mailboxes in the store. Here’s one: the Aloma/Lakemont store by Advent Health Winter Park Hospital.

(If YOU have some “General Doing of Life Helpful Tidbits” that you can pass on for all to know – please send to Andrew by email [email protected] or text 407-619-0967 for inclusion in a future E-Messenger)

“Churches provide a place of gathering for people who share common beliefs, support and encouragement for each other in faith, a place to find insight into and teaching about God’s Word, and they provide a time and place where people can leave the world behind and focus only on their spiritual relationship with God.”
-- Dr. Mary C. Neal, Author

LOVE GOD. LOVE OTHERS. SERVE THE WORLD.
This is the commitment that continues to guide and grow St. Michael’s Episcopal Church.

In joyful thanks for God’s promises, we commit ourselves to grow:
  • in loving God through worship, prayer, stewardship and faith education;
  • each other in spirituality and hope through the nurturing life of our congregation;
  • and in-service to those in need in the world, in witness to Christian love, by reaching out while strengthening our congregation.

St. Michael’s is a thriving, vibrant campus that welcomes people of all ages throughout the week, not just on Sundays. Aesthetically, our church is a cathedral of rising beams, fortified with arching columns, inspirational stained glass, an intimate chapel, and gleaming organ pipes. Quigley Hall provides a community meeting and gathering place as well as a kitchen to prepare healthy meals for those in need. Rowe Hall provides space for children to learn and grow in their spiritual journey and a well-loved play outlet on the playground.

THE NEED
As a church committed to the service of the people of our community, we take the responsibility of caring for our treasured church home seriously. Our beloved buildings are showing signs of age. The sanctuary hasn’t been updated since our doors opened more than 64 years ago!

The time has come to update our Sanctuary, upgrade Quigley Hall and Rowe Hall and refurbish the playground for our children’s ministry. We must upgrade to continue to meet our current needs and lay the foundation for future growth.

DONATE NOW
The overall cost of the remodel and upgrade is $600,000 and we have already raised about 75% of the funds necessary to complete the projects. We need your help and welcome any financial gifts to make these projects a reality.

Simply drop off or mail a check to the church or donate online by clicking on the button below; please indicate that the donation is for church renovations.
Thank you for your faithful financial generosity and support in making this remodel possible!

St. Michael’s looks to a bright future built on a strong past. We are truly a place that loves God, loves others, and serves the world. It is our responsibility to ready our building and property for this important work. Your support will play a critical role. We are counting on your help to improve our ability to serve all members of the St. Michaels’ community better…long into the future.
