I just concluded Noonday Prayer with members of our St. Michael’s family where someone read a prayer that Mother Teresa prayed daily after communion. This prayer penetrated my heart and made me think of St. Michael’s and what I think we desire to be as a church family.
As we reengage in public worship over the summer, “get our feet back on the ground” as a church family and prepare to enter the Fall, I offer a portion of it for your personal devotion and request that you pray it daily for St. Michael’s collectively and those with whom we come in contact.
Dear Jesus, help us to spread your fragrance everywhere we go.
Flood our souls with your spirit and life.
Penetrate and possess our whole being so utterly,
that our lives may only be a radiance of yours.
Shine through us, and be so in us,
that every person we should come in contact with
may feel your presence in our soul.
Let them look up and see no longer us, but only Jesus.
Let us thus praise you in the way you love best,
by shining on those around us.
Let us preach you without preaching:
not by words, but by our example,
by the catching force,
the sympathetic influence of what we do,
the evident fullness of the love our hearts bear for you. Amen.
Thank you for all that you are and all that you do to make St. Michael’s a fragrant offering to Christ.
Love,

FIRST DAY OF
SCHOOL!!!
Hi everyone! Just wanted to share with you our amazing first day of school. Thank you all for your prayers and emails of encouragement!
As you can see, these are the cutest, sweetest faces ever, and they did such a good job. They listen, participate, and are excited and serious about learning. It is small, but I am already praying about expanding to have more teachers & classrooms so we can teach more kids.
I am so thankful for each one of you who have prayed, donated, and supported me so I can be able to be here and do this. I mean that from the bottom of my heart.
The other day, one of my future students was "reading" a picture Bible. He was going through all the pages and narrating what he saw in the pictures. He got to the picture of feeding the 5,000, and I overheard him say in Spanish, "And then Jesus fed them all with baskets of avocados and fried platanos". That pretty much sums up how it is here, everything is different, and I am so thankful for the abundance of blessings that God has provided and gives each day that I get to be here.
Here are my prayer requests if you would like to pray:
- School to go well and for the kids to learn.
- More friends here
- A vehicle to get to the school and back.
- Fluent Spanish
- Spiritual protection and peace, and a deeper relationship with God
- My American teaching certificate to successfully be renewed (It must be renewed every five years)
Thank you and love you!!!

SAMARITAN VILLAGE
Greetings Everyone!
I want to share some amazing news and a new ministry opportunity for us here at St. Michael’s!
This Summer/Late Fall we will begin partnering with Samaritan Village, a safe home and therapeutic program for adult survivors of sex trafficking.
Samaritan Village offers one of the only long-term residential programs for survivors in Central Florida. Their holistic, trauma-informed care model combines a variety of therapies to help women heal and move towards healthy, empowered and independent lives.
We have a variety of ideas we will be exploring with the staff and residents, among these are a dinner church and opportunities for spiritual direction. There will also be opportunities for parishioners to serve. A large part of their ministry is funded through their “Transitions Retail
We have been asked to help sponsor their new residential facility by donating furniture from the residents from Target and Ikea. I have listed the items below. Take a look, pray about it and let me know if you would like to donate.
These are items that will have a significant impact on the women in this program.
A safe bed in which to sleep. Somewhere to keep their belongings that is their own private space.
Twin tufted headboard: Need 6
Chest of Drawers: Need 6
Dresser: Need 2
Night Stand: Need 2
Please also spend time praying as we discern what shape our ministry with Samaritan Village will take. We are overjoyed that God has put us together on this journey!
If you would like to visit their website: https://www.samaritanvillage.net/ and If you would like to discuss possible volunteer opportunities please contact me in the office.

School Supply Boxes for Lake Silver Elementary - Extended Until June 27!
I know it seems early to be thinking about school supplies already, however, as this option proved popular last year, I wanted to make sure that you had the information to purchase the boxes again this year. These boxes contain a complete set of name-brand school supplies for an individual student in the selected grade. If school supply shopping from your couch appeals to you, this is your chance!
Once again, thank you for all you do and for being the hands and feet of Jesus in Orlando!
God Bless, Stay Safe, and Stay Healthy!
Mike Robertson

What color is your thumb?
We will be constructing, planting and maintaining an herb garden for The Gathering to use in their cooking from the heart!
Ideally, we will have enough volunteers that we can rotate bi-weekly or monthly. We will also be planting the beds in the playground and maintaining the rosemary bed in front of the chapel.
If we grow more than we can use we will put together fresh Herb Packets for our friends at St. Francis House, One Heart for Women and Children, and the elderly couples served by our partner, Faith.
If you have experience in these areas, we would love to work with you!

“God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.”
- Hebrews 6:10

|
Serving is a great way to not just get plugged into your church but is also a great way to show the love of Jesus Christ to His people.
As St. Michael’s Church work on plans to start the reopening process, we will have plenty of opportunities for you to serve very soon.

1 When the storms of life are raging,
stand by me; (stand by me)

When the world is tossing me
like a ship upon the sea,
thou who rulest wind and water,
stand by me. (stand by me)
2 In the midst of tribulation,
stand by me; (stand by me)
in the midst of tribulation,
stand by me. (stand by me)

stand by me. (stand by me)
3 In the midst of faults and failures,
stand by me; (stand by me)

stand by me; (stand by me)
when I’m growing old and feeble,
stand by me. (stand by me)
When my life becomes a burden,
and I’m nearing chilly Jordan,
O thou Lily of the Valley,
stand by me. (stand by me)

St. Michael’s will continue its partnership with the Center for Spiritual Formation from Carlisle, PA to offer a two-year program through our campus in the Ministry of Spiritual Direction. A new class will begin in September of 2021.
Spiritual Direction is companionship given by one Christian to another which enables that person to listen for the direction of the Holy Spirit as a person opens their life to God’s presence; to respond to God’s guidance; to grow in intimacy with God, and to live out the beauty of the relationship. The program is intended to assist those who participate in sharpening listening skills, bring clarity to areas of giftedness, and acquire the tools and practices essential to caring for souls in love.
YEAR ONE: focuses on the history, traditions and models, Biblical roots, and theological foundations of Spiritual Direction. It highlights the differences between psychological counseling and Spiritual Direction and demonstrates a contemplative approach to God.
YEAR TWO: focuses on the actual practice of Spiritual Direction: developing listening and assessment skills; becoming familiar with displacement and projection, transference and counter-transference; acquiring a working knowledge of the life-stages of faith development; cultivating an increased awareness of the power of prayer and healing; and learning the importance of supervision.
The Ministry of Spiritual Direction Program creates space for those participating to:
- Gain or deepen one’s understanding, sensitivity, and insight into the workings of the Holy Spirit.
- Create awareness of the need for an ever-growing connection between the inner life of the Spirit and the outer life of faithfulness to the Spirit’s direction.
- Facilitate a deepening prayer life and greater contentment with silence and solitude.
- Equip those participating to deal with strong emotions and maintain relationships over time.
Or connect with
Ashleigh Gonzalez in the Parish Office at [email protected] for any clarifying questions you may have about the program itself or the upcoming interest meeting.
