| How can you help one of St. Michael's biggest outreach programs?
St. Michael's VBS ministers to 100 children and 45 volunteers every summer. We provide a low-cost week-long program where kids are taught and shown the power of God's love through lessons, high energy fun and prayer. There is so many hours and resources that go into this program and we are so thankful for the support our church family provides every year. Here are big and small ways for you to get involved.
Shop for resources:
Visit our Amazon and Target wish list to purchase items we need. If you see an item but would rather purchase at a different store just email
and she will take it off the wish list.
for the Target list and
for the amazon list. Please have your item delivered by May 31st.
All money received will go towards resources and our Fun Day on the last day of VBS.
Help us make decorations:
We will gather in Quigley Hall along with our friends from Church of the Ascension whom we share decorations with. Our decorating parties are fun and lunch is provided. May 6th, 8th, 13th and 15th from 9am - 1pm
Help us hang decorations:
The week before VBS help us transform our church into an African Safari! June 10th, 12th and 14th from 10am - 2pm and June 11th and 13th from 4:30pm - 8:30pm
Volunteer at VBS:
There are so many ways to help!
Please keep the children who will attend and the adults who will lead them in your prayers and that we receive the support and resources needed.
Thank you for your continued support!
| Feed my Lambs: This Sunday, May 12
This Sunday is the MAY "BAG-TREE" SUNDAY! We know this is one week early. As advised in the E-Messenger last week, this is in order that food can be distributed to those who need it before the final week of school (which is the week of Memorial Day, with school ending on the Wednesday - and attendance normally very low).
Thank you to ALL of you who participate in this ministry.
Serve With The Gathering on 4th Tuesdays
This is a great way of putting thankfulness into action and celebrating the gifts we have received from God.
Please consider joining us.
Connect and Serve Team: Next meeting
- May 15
Find out the latest and greatest on outreach efforts at St. Michael's!
We will be discussing the Paws for Peace Walk and many upcoming opportunities.
| Howard Phillips Center for Children & Families
The Howard Phillips Center serves children and families with medical, emotional and developmental challenges, especially those related to child abuse and neglect. Did you know? Orange and Osceola Counties have the highest number of child abuse reports in the state of Florida. Abuse occurs in all socioeconomic and racial groups.
How can you help prevent abuse?
1. Learn to recognize the risks and signs
2. Raise awareness in your community.
Join St. Michael's friends for a one-hour behind-the-scenes story-based tour of the Howard Phillips Center for Children and Families. Friends who've attended can tell you: It's a highly informative eye-opener - not a fund-raiser - and well worth your hour.
TUESDAY | MAY 21 | 9-10am
| Carilloneurs Needed
You may not see us but you can hear us every Sunday both before and after the 10:15 service, playing to the glory of God and enhancing the worship services by providing beautiful music around the church and surrounding neighborhood. If you can read music and play the melody line on a piano then you could be a carilloneur - it's that easy!
We would welcome adult and youth, men and women into this wonderful ministry. Please contact Wendy Tramell (
) if you are interested or have any questions.
| Altar Guild Requests
We are in need of an additional chalice for our increased attendance on Easter and Christmas. If anyone has a silver goblet they would like to donate to St. Michael's Altar Guild, please contact Suzanne Thomas at 407-579-9113 or
Also if you have any questions about the Altar Guild or are interested in joining our merry troupe, please contact Suzanne direct.
Help needed in Camp Sonshine
Out of the 10-15 kids who attend each week only three parents have helped! We need more parents to pitch in!!!
Our preschool class keeps growing and Mrs. Cindy could you use a few helping hands.
to choose a week you can stay and assist.
Summer Church School Starts May 26th
This summer we will combine our classes and meet in the Camp R.O.C.K. room. Sunday school will be led by Mrs. Cindy but she will need a few weekly helpers. We are asking for one adult and one youth volunteer to help each week. If everyone signs up for one week to help that would be great! We only have 15 Sundays to cover.
Please click here to sign up for your Sunday!
St. Michael's EYC and Sunday School are canceled this Sunday, May 12 due to Mother's Day.
Acting Director of Youth Ministries Fr. Greg Favazza
WHO ARE WE?
BOBBY MCFERRIN ON SUNDAY!
This Sunday is GOOD SHEPHERD Sunday - and Bobby McFerrin has a beautiful version of Psalm 23 that we will sing. Here's a link to listen to his group sing it: Click Here
Just be aware that, as he wrote this for and dedicated it to his mother, he uses the feminine pronoun throughout.
