| 2020: GIVERS, TAKERS, and MATCHERS
Organizational psychologist, Adam Grant, the highest-rated teacher at the Wharton School, the youngest tenured professor in the history of the University of Pennsylvania, a former advertising director, and even a former junior Olympian, is the author of the book,
Give and Take: A Revolutionary Approach to Success.
Grant divides the working world into three groups of people: GIVERS, TAKERS, and MATCHERS. Givers seek out ways to be helpful and give to others. Matchers play "tit for tat"-they reciprocate and expect reciprocity. Takers focus on getting as much as possible from others.
WHICH ONE ARE YOU?
ONE OF THE MOST PROFOUND TEACHINGS OF JESUS
: "It is more blessed to give than to receive."
The key word here is blessed. Jesus doesn't just say it is better to give. He doesn't just say you're supposed to give. He doesn't just say God wants you to give. He doesn't just say it is morally superior to give. He says, "It is more blessed ..."
To be blessed means to be enriched, to be enhanced, to be given more life. Jesus is saying it is a better way to live to be a giver than to be a taker. You will be more enhanced. You'll be more enriched.
Adam explains, success isn't about winning a competition, it's about making a positive contribution... and givers contribute the most. As we enter 2020, I pray that I'll seek to live an enhanced life, an enriched life, a more blessed life by being a giver and making a positive contribution to the world... and I pray this for you and St. Michael's as well.

Save the Date: Serve the World Day January 20, 2020
St. Michael's Serve the World Day will be a great opportunity for us to come alongside our partner organizations to learn more about them and assist them with vital projects on each of their respective campuses.
We are happy to announce that we will be partnering with One Heart for Women and Children, Lake Silver Elementary, Orlando Union Rescue Mission, and The Howard Phillips Center for Children and Families.
We will have more specifics about the projects next week.
If you would like to learn more about the mission of the amazing organizations, please click the links below. Then, spend some time in prayer about where God might be leading you to serve!
