Celebration of Life for Ezra "Eddie" Edmondson and "Eddie's Fund"

Please join us for a Thanksgiving and Celebration of Life service for  our beloved Ezra "Eddie" Edmondson on Saturday July 20th at 11 AM  in the main church building. A reception will follow in Quigley Hall.

A wake will be held on Friday July 19th from 4-7 PM at Mitchell's Funeral Home located at 501 Fairvilla Road in Orlando.

Many folks have asked, "What can I do to help?" If you would like to make a gift in Eddie's honor, you may make your check payable to St. Michael's Episcopal Church and write "EDDIE'S FUND" in the memo line. We will present your gift to Eddie's wife JoAn as an expression of our love, gratitude, and joy for Eddie's presence in our lives and 35+ years of faithful service to our St. Michael's family.

The Ministry of  Spiritual Direction Program:
Fall 2019 at St. Michael's Church

"Spiritual Direction is, in reality, nothing more than a way of leading us to see and obey the real Director - The Holy Spirit"Thomas Merton

Beginning in September St. Michael's will partner with The Center for Spiritual Formation from Carlisle, PA to offer a two-year program on our campus in the Ministry of Spiritual Direction. Spiritual Direction is companionship given by one Christian to another which enables that person to listen for the direction of the Holy Spirit as a person opens his/her life to God's presence; to respond to God's guidance; to grow in intimacy with God; and to live out the beauty of the relationship.

The program is intended to assist those who participate in sharpening listening skills, bring clarity to areas of giftedness, and acquire the tools and practices essential to caring for souls in love.

Sunday School: We need individuals to serve each Sunday!

This summer we will combine our classes and meet in the Camp R.O.C.K. room. Sunday school will be led by Ms. Cindy but she will need a few weekly helpers. We are asking for one adult and one youth volunteer to help each week. If everyone signs up for one week to help that would be great! We only have 15 Sundays to cover.  Please click here to sign up for your Sunday!

Flower Thanksgivings and Memorials: Available for July 28

The beautiful floral arrangements that adorn our church are custom made each week by our creative and talented Flower Guild.  The funds for the flowers are donated by church members in memory of, or in thanksgiving for, loved ones or special events.

If you would like to sponsor the flowers any Sunday during the summer season, please sign up on the Flower Calendar in the Narthex or contact Ashleigh in the church office: ashleigh@stmichaelschurch.com

Back to school Backpack and Supply Drive

Greetings! I know that no one is quite ready to start thinking about back to school yet, however our
St. Michael's family would like to get a jump on providing the teachers and students at our partner schools, in particular, Lake Silver Elementary, all the tools and supplies that they need to have a successful school year.

The school supply list is available HERE. We will also have them available at the back of the church in the Narthex at the end of the service and in both Quigley Hall and the Church Office.

There are three ways you can participate:
  1. Pick a grade level and select a backpack and all the supplies for one student
  2. You may provide several of any item on the list (ex. 2 cases of copy paper or 20 notebooks, etc)
  3. Provide a financial gift (Any amount is welcome. Please keep in mind that the average amount for supplies per individual students runs between $65 to $75 per individual).

We have had a special request from Principal Muse for corded headphones and ear buds. These items are used daily by students and wear out quickly.

Last year we brought in over 60 backpacks and $1,000+ worth of supplies.  We will be collecting items until August 4.

Back to school Sign Making Party!

One of the most fun activities of last year was our back to school "Cheer Squad" at Lake Silver on the first day of school.

On July 28th after the 9 am and 10:15 services we will be having a sign making party to welcome students back to school on the first day, August 12th.

We will have tagboard and supplies for you to exercise your creativity writing messages of encouragement.

Also, make plans to join us on the first day of school on August 12th!
Details are coming soon!
