| Monday Night Women's Bible Study: Begins September 9
The Fall study is a great time to explore our "biblical hospitality." Thanksgiving, Christmas, so many holidays are on our heals, but have you ever really explored just how much you know about the examples Jesus provides us on how to create a legacy of how to "love God with all our heart and love our neighbors as ourselves?"
Jen Schmidt is the author of "Just Open the Door," A Study of Biblical Hospitality.
Beginning Monday, September 9th we will:
-Look to Jesus as our model for hospitality.
-Discover how He lived a life full of interruptions, yet always welcomed people and invited them to follow Him.
-Learn to replace cultural expectations with biblical hospitality to create a legacy of invitation and reflect Jesus through simple acts of service.
What to expect:
The videos for this 7-week study are 20-30 minutes in length and homework consists of five days of thoughtful, biblical derived study. You will need your bible app as Jen sends us right to God's word to hear directly about how Jesus set the example. Plan on 20-30 minutes per day.
6:45 -7:00 pm Welcome and fellowship
7:00 -8:05 pm Announcements, group exercise and prayer
8:05 -8:25 pm Video
8:30 pm Dismissal
If you plan to join us as we explore how to love God and our neighbors more deeply, please reply to this message so we can ensure you have a book. (WB are $13.99) All orders will be placed on August 29th to ensure they arrive on time.
New Book Study:
BREATHING UNDER WATER by RICHARD ROHR
NEW STUDY BEGINNING MONDAY, SEPTEMBER THE 9TH AT 9:30AM
in the Fordham Hall Conference Room
Spirituality and the Twelve Steps
Richard Rohr has come to the conclusion that there is one universal addiction that all of us suffer from: we are all addicted to ourselves. "Doesn't everybody process ideas the same way I do?" Doesn't everybody "feel" as I do?
Rohr will aid us in turning the microscope inward to see if we are too attached to something. Addictions don't need to be alcohol or drugs, they could be something as yummy as ice cream, holding grudges, the need to be in control, too much TV, excessive spending and on and on and on. So many areas to bring to the cross.
Wherever we obsess, that is where we can reflect and discover our own powerlessness. As we journey through these time tested steps in our minds and in our hearts, we can move toward transformation. All leading to a new improved us!
Begin by reading the Introduction, page xii and following. Then continue to pages 1-6, Chapter One. Study Guide reflections for Chapter One are found on page 136. Please complete for our opening class, Monday. September 9 at 9:30am.

| Have you ever considered becoming a Lay Eucharistic Visitor?
The LEV as they are affectionately known, takes communion from the Sunday Services to those who are unable to make it to church for any reason. The requirements are only that you are a confirmed Episcopalian and that you desire to bring the life-giving Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ to fellow parishioners.
You will receive a brief training from Deacon Carter and then be put on a schedule. Our desire is to have a sufficient number of LEV's that you would be scheduled just once a month.
If you or someone you know might be interested in this important ministry, please let Deacon Carter at Carter@stmichaelschurch.com or connect with Mike or Ashleigh in the Church Office for more information.
