Conversation and Coffee with the Dean
From Dean Rebecca
When I interviewed with the Search Committee last spring, I was asked what would be one of the first thing I would do if I was called to the cathedral as Dean. My response - was to set up times to meet with members of the cathedral to get to know you all better. Now that we've settled in, and the Installation service is behind us, I would like to make good on that promise.
Beginning in October, I will be setting aside time to meet with members of the cathedral community for casual conversation so that we can get to know one other better. I want to hear from you and learn more about what has been your experience in the cathedral, what draws you closer to Christ, and what are your hopes and dreams are as we move forward together. I will be setting up a scheduling form via Google, or you may call the cathedral office to schedule a time. Stay tuned for more information about available time slots.

SJAT Note: New Creation Care Curriculum, “Love God, Love God’s World”
From Bob Ludwig for the Social Justice Action Team
The Social Justice Action Team invites you to participate with them in the new Creation Care Curriculum, Love God, Love God’s World, recently released by the national Episcopal church. There are nine bi-weekly discussion sessions to be held in-person at the home of an SJAT member on Mondays from 7:00-8:15pm beginning September 30. Click here for the dates and topics.
The sessions will require minimal homework and small group sharing of stories about our encounters with climate change and creation care. Together we will strive for creative action steps. Speak to Dean Rebecca or a member of SJAT about joining this series. There is room for four more people in this first series. But there will be repeats of the series at St. Paul’s and at other churches. Stay tuned. Join. Act.

SJAT Note: Voting Matters
From Estelle Siener for the Social Justice Action Team
Recently I participated in a Zoom discussion led by the Episcopal Office of Government Relations. Presiding Bishop Michael Curry started the conversation (watch from about 3:20-7:30 minutes) by directing us to the books of Romans, chapters 12-14. in which Paul admonishes Christians to engage in civil polity, as it is one of the important ways we carry out the commandment to love our neighbors, always seeking the welfare of others. Voting in the upcoming election is one of our opportunities to participate in civil matters by voting faithfully.
Deadlines and Other Important Dates:
- New voter registration by October 26
- Mail-in or Absentee Ballot submission postmarked by November 5
- Early voting dates: October 26-November 3
- Vote at your precinct on November 5, 6 am to 9 pm
Some Useful Links:
Please encourage your friends and family to get out and vote!

Garden of Love Needs
First thank you to whomever dropped off a load of paper shopping bags with handles. The GOL is ALWAYS in need of that type of bag: brown paper with handles. You can usually get them at Target, Marshalls, Walgreens, T.J. Maxx and other stores. Don't pile them up in the closet, bring them to church and we will be glad to re-cycle them for you. Winter is coming. We don't like to hear that, but imagine if you are living on the streets and the colder weather is approaching. So, Garden of Love would love to welcome donations of:
Gloves (mens & womens), winter hats and scarves, winter jackets, hoodies (sizes XL,XXL), NEW long underwear for men (L, XL),heavy winter socks, winter boots. Gloves, hats, jackets, scarves, hoodies, and boots, can be used, but should be clean and with out tears or stains. Underwear or socks should be new. In the past we have sponsored a blanket drive in December, so donations of these are welcome as well.
Items can be brought to church on Sunday, or dropped off at the GOL on Tuesdays between 9:30 AM and 1PM. For questions about any of these donations, please see Judy Elliott, Bill Siener or Michael Bonilla.

Weekday Eucharist Returns
The 12:05 pm Thursday Holy Eucharist has been on hiatus this summer during a time of transition and the arrival of our new Dean. Starting in September, we will resume weekday Eucharists. On Wednesdays, there will be a 12:05 Healing Eucharist with laying on of hands and anointing for healing; on Thursdays, we will offer a Eucharist outdoors as part of our Cathedral Cares Thursdays.
