Shrimp Dinner: The countdown for the Churchmen’s Club Shrimp Dinner has begun and your help is being requested. We are in need of appetizers. If you can help, please let Scott McSpadden know. Appetizers can be dropped off at the Parish Hall on the day of the dinner. If you haven’t purchased your tickets, you will need to do so before the final rush on tickets occurs. Tickets are $35 and available in the church office or from members of the Churchmen’s Club. The dinner will be this next Thursday, September 29th beginning at 6pm in the Parish Hall. Outside seating will be available.
Care Team Meeting: The Care Team will meet this Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Mike & Rhonda Mundy’s residence at 6:00pm. Directions were emailed to Care Team members. If you need more information, please call Rhonda.
Commissioning: This Sunday, September 25, 2022 we will commission Peyton Olson as a missionary from St. Paul’s during the 10:30 service. Peyton has joined the Peace Corps and this will be her last Sunday in Batesville before leaving for training in the States and in Africa. She will then settle into Nyeri, Africa where she will teach at the Tumu Tumu School for the Deaf.
Blessing of the Animals: We will celebrate the Feast of St. Francis with a pet blessing Sunday, October 2nd at 2:00 pm. Please gather in front of the Parish Hall, and if you wish to contribute to the Humane Society, we will be collecting bags of dry dog or cat food.
Bell Tower Repairs: The work has begun! The contractors have removed the old louvered windows, completed repairs to the interior rock wall and boarded up the openings while new windows are being constructed. The timing of this could not have been better. They discovered a crack in the exterior stone lintel that will need to be repaired. Had we waited longer much more extensive repairs would have been needed.
Sunday Lectionary: Our Sunday readings come from a three-year cycle of assigned scriptures called the Revised Common Lectionary. Over the course of three years, we read our way through the books of the Bible. The lectionary readings for Sunday are now available on our website. Click on Sunday Lectionary to find the readings from the previous Sunday, this coming Sunday, and the week afterwards. During the current church seasons there is a choice of the Old Testament readings and the Psalm. We are using the second set.
Adult Sunday School: We are now offering a Bible Study on Sunday mornings in the Parish Hall beginning at 9:30. No preparation is required; we are reading and discussing the Sunday Lectionary readings.
Join Episcopal Church Women and Daughters of the King for a Joint Venture Book Club on Zoom: Dee Sanders will lead in a discussion of Let Your Life Speak by Parker J. Palmer. September 29th will cover Chapters 1-3 & October 5th will cover Chapters 4-5; both times are from 7:00pm-8:30pm. Join for one session or both!
