Water Restored: Last week we discovered a leak in the line from the city’s meter to our church. As a result, we were without water last Sunday. The leak was under the sidewalk leading to the Parish Hall. The leak has been fixed and they have begun work on repairing the sidewalk. Hopefully it will be completed prior to this Sunday’s worship. If not, the door into the parish hall from the cloister will be unlocked for those needing to use our facilities.
Discretionary Fund: This Sunday the loose plate offering (gifts not designated for pledges, building, etc.) will be deposited into the Rector’s Discretionary Fund. Fr. Jim uses this fund to assist people who come to our church in need of help, to purchase items for the Community Meals as needed, and to support charitable causes.
Office Closed: In observance of the Labor Day holiday, Katie will not be in the office Monday, September 5th. She will resume normal hours Tuesday and will be in the office that Friday, September 9th from 8-noon.
Pub Theology: It has been decided that Pub Theology will be held the first Tuesday night of each month. This month it will be held at U.S. Pizza on Tuesday September 6th at 6pm. A private room will be reserved and we will have our discussion between ordering our food and when the food arrives; our last gathering garnered a good group of people in attendance with a fantastic discussion. If you’re able to come, we would love to have you!
Sunday School: Children’s Sunday School will resume on Sunday, September 11th. It will begin at 9:30 am. As before, our children will remain in Sunday School until we exchange the peace. Parents are invited to attend our new Adult Sunday School class that will also begin at 9:30.
Adult Sunday School: Beginning September 11th, we will be offering a Lectionary Study Sunday School class for adults. This class will be held in the Parish Hall. This is a simple Bible Study that requires no preparation.

S.L.A.M 2022-2023 with First Presbyterian Church: S.L.A.M will kick off on Wednesday, September 7th at 3:30 pm and be held each Wednesday from 3:30-5:30 pm. All elementary school children are welcome to join us for a fun afternoon of Serving God, Loving others, And Making a joyful noise! We hope this will give families a chance to get into the new school year routine before adding this fun activity each week.
Eighth Annual Camp Mitchell Board of Visitors Fundraiser: The Camp Mitchell Board of Visitors will hold its annual fundraiser at Camp Mitchell on Saturday, September 24th, starting at 9 a.m. There will be a celebration of Eucharist, as well as updates, a silent auction, and lunch. Register at Eventbrite before Sept. 14 if you would like lunch.
Episcopal Church Women Fall Gathering: Save the date, October 22, 2022, to attend the ECW Fall Gathering at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Heber Springs. Come and see women from around the Diocese of Arkansas read their offerings from the book featuring the authors of ECW’s book Surrounded by a Cloud of Witness II. Books will be available to purchase.
COVID Update: The number of our members who are infected has declined dramatically; we have only two members infected now (that we are aware of). Masks at worship are optional. Fr. Jim will wear one when serving communion and will again serve communion from in front of the chancel steps.
St. Paul’s Choir Changes: Kristian Ameigh has been named our Choir Director & Organist beginning September 1st. Dr. Oriatti is returning to the choir, but with his increased responsibilities at the college he has stepped down from directing it. We are grateful to him for his leadership this past year and grateful to Kristian for agreeing to take on additional responsibility. Typically, the choir takes a break during the summer, but we were blessed with a number of choristers who were willing to sing. Kristian demonstrated his ability to lead and play and we look forward to continue to share his talents and support our worship.
Giving to St. Paul’s: For those attending online, there are three ways to give: you may mail your gifts to St. Paul’s at PO Box 2255, Batesville, AR. 72503, or make an online contribution by going to our website (stpaulsbatesville.org) and following the link to make a contribution. You may also set up automatic payments through your bank’s Bill Pay service.
