St. Paul's Weekly E-newsletter
October 20, 2016

Hello!

Thank you to all of you who were a part of last week's Groundbreaking Celebration and All Church Worship! As our Sanctuary Choir led us outside, the hum of Marching to Zion filled the air and our hearts. After the ceremony, our African National Zion Choir sang with joy and offered a beat to dance to! What a fun morning with all of our special guests who joined us for this historic day.

Check out all of the photos on our Facebook page and give God the glory for the generous gifts of grace, experienced throughout this day of celebration.

Forward in Faith!

Ingathering Committee
Hello East Central District
As we close out our work at the Flood of 2016 response we have a few remaining needs.  If you would send this out to your congregations to assist it would be very much appreciated.
  1. We need one or two people who would deliver approximately 600 flood buckets from Cedar Rapids to Coralville to put into our conference storage unit.
  2. We need a couple of small teams to respond to some basement cleanup in Cedar Rapids.  This would include mold abatement and power washing.  We have all the supplies just need some people power.
Saturday October 22 and Sunday 23 or other days people are available. Contact Pastor Keith (kpitts@stpaulsumc.org) if you are able to help.

On October 23, Lifelines will begin an 8 week study of Max on Life, written by best-selling author Max Lucado. In this book, Max offers answers and insights into some of the most important questions many of us have. Divided into topics such as Hope, Hurt, Help, Him/Her and Hereafter, this study promises not to give us all the answers, but to give us a biblically-based springboard for further thought and discussion. Consider joining us for coffee, cookies and conversation as we explore some of our most pressing questions. All are welcome! Lifelines meets Sundays at 10:20 am in the Annex main room.

Three local clergy will each present a perspective on the topic within Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. This will be followed by 30 minutes of questions and answers. Food * Faith * Climate Workshop

November 6 in Mt. Vernon for the next Food, Faith, Climate workshop!  This workshop is for anyone who would like to cut the carbs from their food practices. Carbon emissions that is! We look at how our food practices contribute to climate change, and how our faith traditions call us to respond with practical solutions. Then we look at our own food practices and create a plan for more climate-friendly choices.

The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
