Steinway Centennial Celebration
Chamber Music Sunday
This Sunday

Sunday Feb 24th During the 10:30 a.m. service.
On March 14, 2019, our Steinway tur ns 100 years old and we will celebrate it well.  Join us  February 24 for a beautiful  Chamber Music Sun day . Our organist, Kurt Knecht, will be joined by violinist Dorris Dai-Janssen and cellist Ho Anthony Ahn.

Music selections include a movement of the beautiful Fauré piano trio and the exciting first movement of the Brahms Trio #1. The service will also include, Messiaen's poignant Louange a l'eternite de Jesus [Meditation on the Et ernity of Jesus] - a work written inside a Nazi prisoner of war camp. Finally, there will be a premiere of a new piece Kurt wrote for this occasion for piano trio, soprano,  and baritone which will feature two vocalists from  our choir, Sarah   Anderson and Joshua Lawlor.   It will be a Sunday to remember that celebrates our piano and the joy of music at St. Paul's Episcopal Church,
KCMO.

If anyone knows who donated this Steinway to St. Paul's, please contact the Rector.

 2019 Stewardship

Information about your 2019
Mission and Ministry Pledge:
Every year, in response to the many and great gifts God freely bestows upon us, we are all invited to make a pledge to the financial support of St. Paul's Parish.
Our gifts become a witness in the world of this parish's response to God's call to us to be a faithful community serving all God's creation.
The ministries of St. Paul's depend upon the financial support of its members and other interested persons.  In order for the Vestry to make good decisions on how to manage our resources, we invite you to make a financial commitment to our parish for 2019.  You can use the link below to make your pledge or contact the  Church Office for a paper pledge form.
Thank you for your support financially, for your participation, and by remembering our efforts in your prayers.

verse of the week

When justice is done, it is a joy to the righteous, but dismay to evildoers.

- Proverbs 21:15

voice of the week

I use the term radical in its original meaning - getting down to and understanding the root cause. It means facing a system that does not lend itself to your needs and devising means by which you change that system.

- Ella Baker

prayer of the week

Loving God, teach us to order the desires of our hearts according to the call to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with you. Amen.
thought for the week
George MacDonald
For the righteousness of God goes far beyond mere deeds, and requires of us love and helping mercy as our highest obligation, and justice to our fellow humans, those of them too who have done nothing for us - those even who have done us wrong. Our relations with others, God first and then our neighbors, must one day become as in true nature they are, the gladness of our being; and nothing then will ever appear good for us that is not in harmony with those blessed relations.

An example of what a host might bring would be: two large pans of brownies (cut very small), maybe a bowl of fruit (oftentimes grapes cut into small clusters), and a bowl or two of pretzels or popcorn. If you have questions or wish to co-host with another member, please contact  Alison.  Dates are available.
