St. Peter Weekly News!

Principal's Message:

Dear St. Peter Family,

Fall is in the air, and October is about to begin! October is a big month for us at St. Peter because we focus on three things that we believe are very important. First and foremost, the month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary. Each morning in October, we will pray a decade of the rosary together, and on October 20th, we will take our Rosary Walk with Father Kyle. Students are encouraged to bring their rosaries on Monday and keep them here for the month. Also this month we celebrate SOCKtober! This has become a tradition of service at St. Peter School, and the most unique thing about it is that it was started several years ago by one of our students, Taren Prinz. Taren, who is now a junior at Chaminade Julienne, will kick off the sock drive for us Monday morning. We are so proud of Taren! But Taren is not the only student who found a need and a way to help and make a difference. Current eighth grader Milah Schullker built and donated a Buddy Bench for our playground last year. The Buddy Bench helps us remember the need to look out for each other and take care of each other here at school. October is Bullying Prevention month, and Milah will lead a campaign on kindness to remind us how to treat each other. Her campaign will kick off on Tuesday. Well done, Milah! Please join us this month as we pray the rosary, donate new socks, and spread kindness! What a truly beautiful school we have here. Enjoy the fall weather and the three day weekend with your amazing kids!

St. Peter, Friend of Jesus,

PRAY FOR US!

Faith Moment

The Archangels St. Gabriel, St. Michael, and St. Raphael share a feast day on September 29th. These are the only three angels mentioned by name in Sacred Scripture. St. Gabriel means “Power of God." He is the messenger or herald angel most famous for appearing to the Blessed Virgin Mary at the Annunciation. St. Michael means “Who is like God?" He is the warrior angel, the famous foe of Satan, who is the champion of God’s people, and guardian and protector of the Church. St. Raphael means “God has healed." He is a companion and healing angel, most famous for curing a man's blindness and for traveling with Tobiah in the book of Tobit. September 2nd is the Feast of the Guardian Angels. Catholics believe that God made a special angel for each of us, who is with us at all times. Our angels have three important jobs: enlighten us, guide us, and protect us!

Angel of God, my Guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here, ever this day be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen

Educational Apparel will be at St. Peter on Wednesday, October 12th from 3:00-6:00PM. This is a great opportunity to purchase uniform approved sweatshirts and pullovers, as the weather gets cooler. Please remember, as students begin to wear pants instead of shorts, that pants may be purchased elsewhere, but they must look like the uniform pants from Education Apparel. An important note for our girls, jeggings and leggings are not permissible. Pants can not be a knit material, but must be the chino-style uniform pant. Burgundy sweatshirts are still uniform for this school year, but this is the last year for these sweatshirts. Thank you for your attention to our uniform policy. The students are coming to school looking good and ready to learn! (Thanks Ruby and Chloe for modeling our jumpers!)

Kasey the Fire Dog

Our Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third Grades were treated to quite a fire safety presentation on Wednesday! They learned all about what to do in case of a fire, and they got to see Kasey and Karmel do some really cool tricks! Kasey and Karmel demonstrated how to stop, drop and roll, how to crawl under smoke to escape, and how to feel a door to see if it's hot before opening it. Thank you, Kasey and Karmel!

Reading Buddies

Our kindergartners teamed up with their 6th grade buddies for some good reading on Wednesday afternoon! Our 6th graders become true mentors for our kindergartners throughout the school year, helping them with not only reading, but mentoring good behavior and helping our kindergartners on Mass days.
