Florance Anderson and Pat Gould
Honored at Reception
| |
On Sunday, October 2, we celebrated the ministry and retirement of Audio/Visual Coordinator Florance Anderson and Organist and Choirmaster Pat Gould with a beautiful reception in the Parish Hall. Click the link below to read the notes Florance and Pat wrote to the congregation.
O God of peace, who hast taught us that in returning and rest we shall be saved, in quietness and in confidence shall be our strength: By the might of thy Spirit lift us, we pray thee, to thy presence, where we may be still and know that thou art God; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

St Philip’s Well-Represented at
New Wineskins Conference
by Susan C. Keller, World Missions Committee Chair
| |
Imagine singing praises to God with all your heart with 1600 people from all over the world! It was definitely a magnificent taste of heaven. St. Philippians, as well as lots of dear friends from across our diocese, were able to be a part of the 2022 New Wineskins Anglican Global Mission Conference at Ridgecrest Conference Center in Black Mountain, NC. This conference is held every three years and this was the largest gathering to date for the event.
The theme this year was “111: Be the one, See the One, Share the One.” Be the one to reach out with the love of Christ––See the one who needs the truth of the gospel––Share the One true God.

This Week's Service Information

The Rev. Jeffrey S. Miller will be preaching this Sunday at our services of Holy Communion at 8:15 and Morning Prayer at 10:30 a.m.
If you've been thinking that Marshall has just been resting on his laurels up in Maine since May, you thought wrong! No, our roving smile ambassador has been hard at work making sure he puts a smile on the face of everyone he meets up there, which is no small task––he meets a lot of people!
Nonetheless, he had time to write to Gus (you may remember that Gus was the one who encouraged him to apply for a job at St. Philip's) last week:
| |
Dear Gus,
I had a busy summer with my Downeast Maine Smile Mission. We had to make a dash for the ferry ahead of the hurricane and found folks in need of smiles all the long way home.
I am glad to see that you are busy spreading the smiles in the Church office and working on some intriguing top secret plans with the Sexton-in-Training. Keep up the good work. Give my love to all the ESpire ladies, but DO NOT eat all the office treats before I get there in December.
Your friend,
Marshall
| |
If you already follow St. Philip's on Facebook and Instagram, then you already knew that Marshall had been in touch. But if this is the first you're hearing of it, don't you think you should take a moment right now to follow us so that you can be among the first to hear part-time office helper news, upcoming events, and weather-related schedule updates?
