Wow, St. Philippians––not only did we blast past our goal of 44 pints of blood collected at last week's blood drive, but we also set a personal (St. Philip's) record, collecting a whopping 54 pints! That amounts to a potential 162 lives saved!
Thank you to all who donated, volunteered, and helped spread the word to make this our most successful drive to date! And good news for anyone who missed this drive and/or are eager to donate again: Red Cross has already opened signup for our September drive!

VBS Kids Raise Almost $2,000 for Water Mission
“Let us keep looking to Jesus. He is the one who started this journey of faith. And he is the one who completes the journey of faith.” Hebrews 12:2a
| |
Everyone at Vacation Bible School June 19–22 had so much fun traveling here, there, and everywhere and learning all the ways we can Follow Jesus! The children worked hard at learning their memory verse (Hebrews 12:2a) and had opportunities for great discussions during their small-group time. Here is an outline of what they learned if you want to continue some of those conversations at home.
And we are so excited to let you know that the VBS attendees and their older friends from youth group together raised $,1926.73 for Water Mission, over $600 more than we raised last year! Congratulations to everyone on their hard work!

Paul Reese to Join the Music Ministry Team as Associate Director of Music and Organist in August |
About Paul Reese: At 13 years of age, Paul first played the piano in church, “special music” for the offertory. Despite some wrong notes, he left church that morning knowing what the Lord wanted him to do for the rest of his life. After continuing to study music through high school, he earned baccalaureates in organ and Bible from Philadelphia Biblical University and a Master of Music in organ performance from Westminster Choir College. Prior to coming to St Philip’s, he held church music positions in the greater Philadelphia area and in Charleston, and taught music full time in classical Christian schools. Not only an organist, Paul regularly performs as a violinist and baritone.
In addition to ministry and musical endeavors, Paul is thrilled to be married to his wife Trisha, and together they have a son, Paul Frederick IV, who was born on the peninsula––the only true Charlestonian in the family. Paul enjoys being the only organist he knows who can build a house while listening to a good novel. Most Mondays you can find the Reese family enjoying the local beaches around Charleston. He cannot imagine a better job than working in a church that seeks to exalt Christ each and every day. Paul believes church music is a participatory activity and looks forward to making music together with all the St. Philippians!

Journey to the Holy Land
by Amanda Steinhardt
| |
Our journey to the Holy Land with St. Philip’s was a bucket list experience, one of those trips that will carry us for the rest of our lives. We were not ordinary tourists but pilgrims seeking to grow our understanding of and faith in our Lord, and it was truly a blessing and a privilege.
We covered a lot of territory, and everywhere we visited, Fr. Jeff and Fr. Justin found a sheltered spot to read Scripture and give a lesson about the site’s significance, which helped create personal connections to the biblical places we were visiting.
