Register for a Foyer Group Today!
Looking for a great way to get to know others in the St. Philip’s family? We are pleased to announce the return of Foyer Groups, monthly gatherings of about eight to ten adults––married couples or single folks, longtime members or relative newcomers––assigned randomly and meeting in each other’s homes for a simple meal and fellowship. Generally the host provides the main dish and others bring the rest of the meal (appetizer, salad, side or dessert). If you’re concerned about accommodating a group in your own home, consider co-hosting with another member of the group or having a casual backyard evening. If you are not a cook, there’s always bread and wine!
This is a social evening with a real purpose—to know one another better and build a stronger sense of community in the Body of Christ at St. Philip’s as we practice the gift of hospitality.
Please sign up at the link below by Wednesday, October 20, so that we can put groups together by the end of the month.

Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a Bishop for this Diocese that we may receive a faithful pastor who will preach the Gospel, care for your people, equip us for ministry, and lead us forth in fulfillment of the Great Commission; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The St. Philip’s Bells Are Ringing Again!
Downtown Charleston has seemed rather quiet since the evening of June 12, when lightning struck St. Philip’s and overloaded several electrical systems, including that of our steeple bells.
The bells were silent for months as we awaited the parts needed to repair them, and finally, last Monday, October 4, a crew arrived to begin the repair.
Every day last week, the workers climbed the steps of the steeple to do the painstaking work of rebuilding the system, and on Thursday afternoon, we heard the first sounds of the bells ring out as the crew tested them. Come Friday afternoon, we were hearing our hourly melody and quarter-hour tolls. What a glorious sound it is!

Sexton-In-Training Becoming a Trainer?
Students at St. Philip's Preschool enjoyed their fall break Monday and Tuesday of this week, and while most of them likely enjoyed some downtime with family or maybe even got away for a few days, our young sexton in training, Cecilia Walchesky, used some of her vacation time to get some extra hours in at work.
It seems all her hard work is paying, because she may get her own trainee soon! Miss Libby Hood stopped in yesterday with her parents, and we could tell that she would fit right in with the part-time crew. We can't wait for her to come back so that Miss Cecilia can show her the ropes––and the rest of us can pinch her cheeks!
If you follow St. Philip's on social media, you already knew about Miss Walchesky's work ethic and the new (potential) helper. But if this is news to you, why don't you take a minute to click the buttons below and follow us right now? That way you, too, can be among the first to hear stories like this.
