St. Philippians Attend LPC Fundraising Banquet
by Jennie Richardson, Home Missions Team Co-Chair
| |
A couple dozen St. Philippians attended Lowcountry Pregnancy Center’s (LPC) Annual Fundraising Banquet this past Friday evening. A couple dozen St. Philippians attended Lowcountry Pregnancy Center’s Annual Fundraising Banquet this past Friday evening. After a delicious meal and wonderful fellowship at the St. Philip’s Home Missions sponsored tables, we sang along with the rest of the banquet attendees “Hymn of Heaven,” which prepared our hearts for the stories we were about to hear. First, we heard from a young single mother and a couple, all of whom are LPC clients. LPC has equipped these young parents with essential parenting armor: strengthened faith, encouragement, parenting classes, counseling for both mom and dad, and diapers. God is using LPC to offer hope and loving support, all in the name of Jesus, for those who visit their office with an unexpected pregnancy.
Keynote speaker Evie West shared her testimony, which was the picture of redemption and divine intervention.

St. Philippians Serve Citadel Cadets at St. Alban’s Chapel
by Gantt Folline, Home Missions Team
| |
The photograph above, taken by the Rev. Rob Sturdy, Chaplain of St. Alban’s Anglican Chapel Society, shows St. Philip’s Church volunteers setting up the supper prepared by Chef Connie Stahl to be served to around 70 cadets at The Citadel prior to the March 20 chapel service. Pictured at the front table are St. Philippians Danielle Folline, DuBose Blakeney, Carol Robinson, David Wright, and John Macmurphy. At the back table are Joanna Macmurphy, Lee Richards, Richard Padgett, and Briggs Huddleston. Volunteers not pictured are Sam Robinson, Lon Burris, and Reid Davis.
The picture above may best be described as “the calm before the storm,” after which numerous cadets would come through for a first serving, a second serving, and in some cases a third serving.

The St. Philip's Tea Room Is Less Than a Month Away!
Thank You from Water Mission!
A note from George C. Greene III and Jeni Greene Gardner
| |
On behalf of Water Mission, thank you, Team St. Philip’s Church! This amazing group included 141 registered walkers and raised $10,550.88! Well done!
The Walk for Water raises awareness about the global water crisis, raises funds to end the global water crisis, and allows us to share the work that Water Mission is involved in around the world.
Our prayer for those that participate in the Walk for Water is that the Lord will open eyes and touch hearts. We hope each person who “walks so others don’t have to” will want to see an end to the global water crisis.
When you walked 1.5 miles with a bucket of dirty water, read the signs along the Walk with facts from around the world, and walked through Water Mission Headquarters, did you get excited about being part of the solution? We hope you did! There are many ways to get involved with the work being done. Let us show you what we’re doing!
Please consider visiting Water Mission. Get Involved Tours are offered most Tuesdays 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Email [email protected] to sign up. To learn more about opportunities, please visit watermission.org/get-involved/volunteer.
Many blessings and much joy to you!
George C. Greene III and Jeni Greene Gardner

Camp Jubilee Registration Open Now!
Since Marshall the roving smile ambassador's work takes place almost entirely off campus, he hasn’t had many occasions to meet many of his coworkers, especially the part-time helpers whose schedules tend to be erratic. So when he encountered Charlie the cemetery guard cat on a walk recently, he found Charlie to be a little … prickly. However, Charlie has since been informed that not only is Marshall allowed on the sidewalk (as all dogs are, as a matter of fact, but there’s a bit of a learning curve for Charlie), but he’s also welcome to come visit his coworkers in the office whenever he’s around!
If you follow St. Philip's on social media, you already knew about the Marshall–Charlie standoff. But if this is the first you're hearing about it, why don't you take a moment right now to like and follow us on Facebook and Instagram so that you, too, can be among the first to hear about upcoming events, schedule changes, and the (hopefully improving) relationships among our furry helpers?
