41 Pints of Blood Collected During Yesterday's Drive:
Thank You, St. Philip's Family and Friends!
by Ben Hagood, Home Missions Team

Thank you, St. Philip's, for your generous support of our blood drive! The Red Cross set up in the Parish Hall yesterday from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m. and collected 41 pints of blood. All 37 appointments were fully booked a week in advance. A few people were not able to keep their appointments, but walk-ins filled their spots. Members of the Home Missions Team coordinated the drive and provided volunteer support throughout the afternoon. The Team also distributed 20 kits from
Be The Match that enable willing donors to register with the international bone marrow registry. Thank you to all donors for helping us to show the love of Christ to our community in this difficult time and during this national blood shortage. Because of your overwhelming support, the Home Missions Team will plan another drive soon.

Another (!) Non-Musical Staff Meeting
Now on an unheard-of third week of vocal rest, some Church Street singers are beginning to worry that the break will do more harm than good. Will they still remember the words to "Happy Birthday" when it's time to sing again? (That's right––of course they will––they still have to sing it every time they wash their hands!)
It seems that quite a bit has happened since the clergy and staff met up via Zoom last week! One priest's mother received a new iPad, which she's now mastered thanks to some tutoring from a tech-savvy granddaughter––so she's been catching up on services and ALL of the Daily Devotions (there are nearly 60 devotions!). This type of binge-watching may just be an acceptable form of gluttony. Angela Clark and Lee Moore wrapped up a fun-filled week of preschool summer camp, and Florance Anderson's daughter and her husband renewed their wedding vows. Nebraska-native Rachel Murphy, who is one of seven children, is looking forward to seeing her sister Bridget when she comes our way to visit friends in Spartanburg––and since we've met a couple of visiting sisters, Rachel jogged our memory by explaining that Bridget was "two sisters ago" (while Jenny was the most recent sister).
Some staff and their family had some rough patches last week, though, brought on by malfunctioning freezers, a foot-stinging wasp, and slippery (rain-soaked) steps––and as time goes on, we all seem to know people affected by COVID-19. How are you handling this stressful time? Is there anything your fellow parishioners, clergy, or church staff can do for you right now? Remember that your church family is here for you, available and eager to help you in any way you need. You may also reach out to one of our priests directly; they miss you and would love to hear from you!

Preschool Summer Camp Registration
Session 2: July 13-17
Open to St. Philip's Preschool Students AND the Surrounding Community
The first session of St. Philip's Preschool Camp wrapped up on Friday! At each session, the children enjoy socializing while engaging in age-appropriate activities.
We are pleased to offer Preschool Camp for babies through age three! Session One was last week, and Session Two will be July 13-17 (campers must have been born after September 1, 2015).
The fee per child is $250, and campers do not have to be St. Philip's Preschool students to attend. Space is limited, with preference given for church members and for full-week camp attendance.
A note about safety: Cleaning is something we have always taken very seriously at St. Philip’s Preschool. We will clean and sanitize daily during camp, and we will also be using air purifiers. We would be happy to share our cleaning protocol with you upon request.

Our diocese is seeking high school students (preferably rising juniors and seniors) who demonstrate spiritual maturity and leadership gifts to apply for the diocesan Youth Commission. This team serves at diocesan youth events and at Diocesan Convention each year. The diocese provides training for leading Bible studies, small groups, prayer, activities, and sharing the gospel. Applications are now available. Youth Commission is a selective process. Deadline for applications is July 15th.
There's a lot going on in our diocese right now, including registration for the "Kneeling in the Breach" retreat (on-site and Zoom), applications for Holy City Fellows, day camps at Camp St. Christopher, and more! Are You Prepared for Hurricane Season?
St. Philip's Disaster Relief Team helps in times of hurricane, tornado, flooding, earthquake, fire, or any other disaster
The Disaster Relief Team's mission is to provide help, assistance, and hope to our parishioners and neighbors in times of extreme crisis by offering comfort and minor emergency repairs.
We have a network of parishioners who are willing and able to respond when they are called via our phone tree. We have two points of the phone tree and geographic coordinators for most of the tri-county area already in place. We are always happy to welcome new volunteers!

“And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
