Helpers Needed for Mere Anglicanism January 26-28

We are delighted to report that the Mere Anglicanism Conference has sold out! As St. Philip’s prepares to host this conference for folks from far and wide, we need your help so we can offer warm and gracious hospitality to our speakers and attendees! Can you spare a few hours (or more!) during the conference? Opportunities abound, from greeting to ushering to helping with registration or the bookstore or worship services. St. Philip’s young adults enjoyed some beautiful weather and delicious oysters in the courtyard on Sunday! And on Tuesday, they met up with Justin Hare and Brian McGreevy at Henry’s on the Market for the first Theology on Tap of 2023, where they talked about how to deal with failure.

If you’re a 20–30-something who hasn’t yet connected with the other young adults at St. Philip’s, contact Justin Hare today!

Volunteering at Star Gospel Mission

by Sandra Anderson, Home Missions Team

As a member of the Home Missions Team, I was looking forward to learning more about Star Gospel Mission and having an opportunity to personally reach out to those in need at Christmas.

Star Gospel Mission is Charleston’s oldest independent Christian charity. Its mission is to transform lives through Jesus Christ by compassionately providing resources for people experiencing hardships. I read in the inSPIRE that Star Gospel Mission needed volunteers to help distribute their Good Cheer gift cards to those in need. I clicked on the link and had the option of either being a greeter or an interviewer.

House of Prayer: January Prayer Points

by Frenchie Richards, St. Philip’s Prayer Ministry

“Behold, I will do a new thing. Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it?”

 ––Isaiah 43:19a

As we begin our new year, let’s ask the Lord to reveal the new things that He is doing so that we can partner with Him.

Prayer Points for Special Assignment

Mere Anglicanism Conference

For clergy: Pray that all of the duties assigned to each of our clergy go smoothly. Pray for special anointing and gifting for them to accomplish their task with ease. Pray for them and their families against any sickness, illness, disease, or danger. Pray for peace to prevail against any anxiety and stress connected with sponsoring such a big event.

For administration: Pray that all details come together smoothly.

For the speakers: Pray that each speaker will be inspired and anointed with wisdom and revelation knowledge as they prepare their teachings. Pray for safe travel, good health, and a hedge of protection around them and their families.

"Thank You" from Lowcountry Pregnancy Center!

The Angel Tree project was a huge success because of the generosity of our St. Philip’s family and friends! The Home Missions Team distributed a record 450 $25-gift cards to our neighbors in need at Lowcountry Pregnancy Center and Star Gospel Mission.

The Team received a thank-you note from Lowcountry Pregnancy Center Director of Development Deb Ohlendorf shortly before her year-end retirement, and from Kim Incampo, her successor:

Dear St. Philip’s,

We are so grateful for you and the work you are doing to care for the babies of the Lowcountry. May you be blessed ten-fold for the blessing you are to LPC and may you feel the Lord’s presence during this Christmas season and into the New Year!

Blessings,

Deb, Kim and the LPC Staff
