Fervent: A Women’s Study of Prayer
Tuesdays at 9:00 a.m in the Parish Hall ~ February 8–March 15
Leaders: Margaret Donaldson and Charlotte Williams
|
|
Does your prayer life need a boost? Join Margaret
and Charlotte as we embark on a 6-week study of
the Priscilla Shirer book Fervent. We will take a
hard look at what the enemy wants us to believe
about ourselves, our families, our identities, our
relationships, our pasts, and our fears. By studying
what the Bible tells us about the power of prayer
and the Father to whom we pray for all things, we
will form a battle plan for serious prayer.
Bring your Bible and a notebook to our first meeting
on February 8 at 9:00 in the Parish Hall. We will
have your books for you.

Get Ready for Mission Sunday!
February 20: Guest speaker and preacher
Bishop Grant LeMarquand
by Susan C. Keller, World Missions Committee
|
|
Bishop Grant LeMarquand with his wife, Wendy
You don’t want to miss church on February 20! We will be marking a special day to highlight God’s call to each of us for mission in this world. As Jesus told us after His resurrection, “you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8b
|
|
To help us focus on mission, we are thrilled to welcome Bishop Grant LeMarquand to be with us that day. He will speak at the Rector’s Forum and preach at both services. Bishop LeMarquand is currently the Director of the Stanway Institute for World Mission at Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge, PA. He and his wife, Dr. Wendy LeMarquand, served as missionaries in northern Africa for five years before coming back to Trinity. He served in the Diocese of Egypt as Bishop of the Horn of Africa, which includes four countries: Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, and Ethiopia. Read more about Bishop LeMarquand in his full bio below.
More to follow about Mission Sunday––make sure you don’t miss it!

The Gospel-Centered Parent
an offering for ALL parents
Wednesdays at 4:00 p.m. in the Parish House, room 111
Leaders: Leah Simmons, Beth Bailey
|
|
Parents with children of all ages, join us on Wednesdays starting at 4:00 p.m. in room 111 of the Parish House for fellowship and a weekly lesson from The Gospel-Centered Parent. This informal, “come as you are” study is meant to reach you where you need it most with encouragement and, hopefully, laughter as God’s spirit works with us. Each session is self-contained, so feel free to drop in as your schedule allows. Last week we talked about letting go of worry and turning towards Jesus. Childcare is offered, and a bonus is you can join us afterwards for Wednesdays Alive! service and supper (beef stroganoff casserole tonight!)––a night off from cooking is always a plus in our house!

Edgar Consecration Scheduled for March 12
|
|
The consecration of the Very Reverend Chip Edgar as Bishop of The Anglican Diocese of South Carolina will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday March 12, 2022, at the Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul in Charleston, SC.
Edgar was elected on October 16, 2021, during a special Electing Convention of the Diocese held at Christ Church in Mt. Pleasant. Dean Edgar had been the Planting Pastor, Rector, and Dean of The Cathedral Church of the Apostles (Diocese of the Carolinas) in Columbia, SC, where he has served since 2004. During that time, he oversaw the growth of the church from a core group of 25 to an average Sunday attendance of nearly 400.
Edgar’s election was consented to by the College of Bishops of The Anglican Church in North America during their meeting in Melbourne, FL, on January 12. Our diocese is a member diocese of the ACNA.
Edgar will succeed the Rt. Rev. Mark J. Lawrence, who has served as the diocesan bishop since 2008. Those wishing to attend the consecration are invited to respond online at the link below. Note that indicating your intention does not guarantee seating within the Cathedral. Once the Cathedral is full, guests will be invited to a tented overflow area where the service may be viewed via livestream.

This Week's Service Information
|
|
The Rev. Justin C. Hare will be preaching this Sunday at our services of Holy Communion at 8:15 and 10:30 a.m.
|
|
Shortly after our cemetery guard cat decided to share his name with us, he decided to take a wee bit of time off, although he decided against telling us where he was going and when he would be back.
So we were happy to see that him return to work yesterday with a renewed zest for rule enforcement. Shortly after posing for this photo, he followed a suspiciously rowdy group of college-aged fellows down the sidewalk towards the Ministries Hall until he was sure they were going to continue on their way without causing any trouble. Even though we never asked him to patrol the rest of the campus, we are grateful that he's taken on that duty––we've never felt so safe!
If you follow St. Philip's on Instagram or Facebook, you already knew that Charlie was back at work. If you don't follow us...why not? Take a minute to follow us now so you can be among the first to hear about upcoming events, schedule changes, and the antics of our furry office and grounds helpers (some of whom have been following CDC guidelines and lying low...they'll be back in action soon!).
