Wednesdays Alive! Returns TONIGHT at 5:30!
Those masks can't hide your praise team's excitement about leading worship tonight! The Rev. Andrew O'Dell, Ben Hagood, Chris Walchesky, Pam Dickson, Joanna Macmurphy, and Clifton Orvin had a joyously musical reunion last night at rehearsal, and they invite you to come sing and worship with them tonight!
Join us tonight at 5:30 for the return of our midweek, come-as-you-are service of Holy Communion, Wednesdays Alive! While we won't be gathering for supper afterwards, we will be offering two class/fellowship options later in the evening––one via Zoom and one in person. The Rev. Brian McGreevy's new C.S. Lewis class, "Mere Christianity: Timely Truth for a Hurting World," will meet on Zoom at 7:15 p.m., while College Fellowship (for young adults college-aged and up), will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Youth Room (note that this is a new start time).

TONIGHT: C.S. Lewis's "Mere Christianity"
On Zoom Wednesdays at 7:15 p.m. beginning tonight
Our resident C.S. Lewis scholar is back! Join the Rev. Brian McGreevy tonight at 7:15 p.m. on Zoom as he begins his exploration of C.S. Lewis's "Mere Christianity," a book that is still remarkably fresh today, serving as an encouragement to the believer, a winsome challenge to the doubter, and an effective apologetic for the unbeliever. Podcast subscription information is coming soon!

Diocesan Women's Retreat:
Finding Shelter in Times of Unrest
by Suzanne McCord
Gloria Avent, Joanna Macmurphy, Tammy Gottshalk, Martha Vetter, Suzanne McCord, Pringle Franklin, Jayne Gurley, and Susan Keller at the annual Diocesan Women's Retreat at Camp St. Christopher.
Unlike most things that have occured in the year 2020, this year’s Diocesan Women’s Retreat at Camp St. Christopher actually lived up to what it claimed to be, and even more!
The overwhelming sense that I felt from the first day to the last was shelter from the craziness of the world we are currently living in. Just walking up to Susannah’s House, where the weekend’s events would be held, was peaceful. The ladies had thought of everything we might want or need. And they greeted us with smiles and happy faces on the porch.
Then walking to our cabin was like walking into our own little bit of heaven. There was a deer munching on some grass, the breeze was blowing gently off the water, and we could hear the waves lapping on the beach just behind the massive palmetto log cross that stands in the dunes right in front of our cabin. The sun was getting lower and the half moon was bright white against the clear blue sky.
Inside the cabin, there were more treats waiting for each us, as well as ceiling fans and air conditioning. But one notable thing was missing--a TV. It was the perfect place to find shelter in times of unrest.

2021 Vestry Nominations:
Did You Receive Your Letter From the Wardens?
The Rev. Hank Avent, Ann Hunley Harrington, and Florance Anderson all took part in envelope-stuffing last Wednesday. The Rev. Marc Boutan, who is on sabbatical until December, arrived right on time for a lunch meeting, but too late to join in the envelope-stuffing fun.
Last Wednesday was a busy day at St. Philip's! Staff members met up in the parlor for socially distant envelope-stuffing––while seriously missing the banter and laughter of the faithful "inSPIRE ladies," who (pre-pandemic) would normally have headed up such an endeavor. But we were blessed with the presence of volunteer extraordinaire Ann Hunley Harrington and her unstoppable work ethic––and the Rev. Hank Avent, who was in the building on other business, took a seat and helped us out, too! Before we knew it, we had close to 1,000 envelopes stuffed with information about this year's Vestry nominations ... did you receive yours? If not, click the button below to read it online.

Our sorely missed inSPIRE ladies and a few staffers putting together the stewardship mailing last December––they had an assembly line going that would have made Henry Ford proud!

Amen.
